Dr. Anansa Linderby (Beverly Johnson) is kidnapped in a medical mission in Africa by a slave trader. From this moment, her husband will do anything to recover her and to punish the bad guys, but that will be not an easy task.

The title was somewhat confusing for audiences, as many people tended to think that the character played by Beverly Johnson
was called "Ashanti". Johnson's image appeared prominently on one of the movie's main posters where she was positioned above the bold title, sitting chained in the desert in a red dress showing a lot of cleavage, and comprising sixty percent of the poster. Her character was actually named "Dr. Anansa Linderby" and not "Ashanti", which refers to the African tribe, of which Anansa was a descendant. See more
A copy of the film was given away on DVD by the UK Mail On Sunday newspaper. However this version was considerably edited and missing most of the violent scenes. As the BBFC have never cut the film it appears that this version has come from a pre-cut or TV print. See more
