A late-night comedy show featuring several short skits, parodies of television commercials, a live guest band, and a pop-cultural guest host each week. Many of the SNL players have spun off successful independent comedy and/or movie careers from here.

Gilda Radner was seriously being considered by producer Gary Marshall and ABC for one of the characters on Laverne and Shirley. If she had nabbed the part; she would have left SNL after only half a season. See more

USA Today reports that Britney Spears may once again be pregnant. Britney, Kevin; on behalf of all of the people on earth, stop repopulating! Brad and Angelina, Okay; but Britney and Kevin, please stop; now.
To avoid paying royalties, some syndicated versions remove the musical performances and the mention of the musical guests in the opening credits is also removed. See more
