The first James Bond film introduced the world to Sean Connery as the inimitable secret agent 007 with a license to kill. The Americans are complaining because their Cape Canaveral rockets are veering off course. Bond is sent to Jamaica to investigate the possible cause. He's joined by American agent Felix Lieter (Jack Lord). It seems the mysterious Dr. No (Joseph Wiseman) owns an island and patrols it regularly to keep intruders away. Bond and a local sailer named Quarrel boat to the island. There they run into the first of the Bond girls, beautiful Ursula Andress (Honey Rider) who makes her living stealing conch shells from the island. Bond and Dr. No duel for the rest of the film. This is a good Bond film, not as good as Goldfinger or From Russia With Love. You'll recognize Dr. No as the basis for Mike Myer's hysterical parody as Dr. Evil in Austin Powers.
