  • No. Holiday is a remake of an earlier film, also titled Holiday (1930) (1930), which was based on the 1928 play, Holiday, by American playwright Philip Barry [1896-1949]. American screenwriters, Donald Ogden Stewart and Sidney Buchman, wrote the screenplay for the movie. The character of Linda Seaton, played by Katharine Hepburn, was loosely based on American socialite Gertrude Sanford Legendre. Legendre left high society to become an explorer, big-game hunter, environmentalist, and plantation owner in South Carolina. She later spied for the OSS during WWII. Edit
