Galloping Dick, a clever thief, occupies fashionable bachelor apartments. He is invariably accompanied by William, who acts the part of valet and body-servant while in the apartments, and as an expert, faithful and clever accomplice in the robberies committed by Galloping Dick. One evening William sits in the apartment impatiently waiting for the return of Dick, who arrives finally after a successful robbery and turns over to William some rich jewels which the latter places in a concealed safe built into the wall. In the meantime, the robbery has been discovered and there is great agitation in the mansion where Mrs. Richwell has discovered her loss. Detective Haggerty is notified of the robbery and arrives on the scene. A cursory inquiry at once reveals to him that this is another job by Galloping Dick.
