Steven Spielberg steps down as director for ‘Indiana Jones 5’ – James Mangold in talks to replace
Steven Spielberg has decided to step down as director on ‘Indiana Jones 5’ leaving the door open for ‘Logan’ and ‘Le Mans ’66’ helmer James Mangold to slot right in if terms can be met.

Having directed four of the previous films over its 39-year franchise, Spielberg’s only reason for stepping back is to be able to hand over the reins to the next generation, sources have said Spielberg’s desire is to pass along Indy’s whip to a new generation to bring their perspective to the story. He will, however, be staying on as a “hands-on” producer.
