Ratings: Milo Ventimiglia-Directed ‘This Is Us’ Episode Grows vs World Series Game 1

NBC, CBS and ABC faced some stiff competition from Fox last night, when the home to usual Tuesday shows “The Resident” and “Empire” was happy to have Game 1 of the 2019 World Series instead.

Fox comfortably won in primetime, but a few shows actually grew their ratings from last week.

One of those was NBC’s “This Is Us,” which aired an episode directed by star Milo Ventimiglia. Another was the drama that immediately followed it, “New Amsterdam.”

Due to the nature of live sports, the below fast-national numbers for Fox should be considered subject to significant adjustment.

In comparable numbers, the Fall Classic is currently down year to year. Game 1 of the Los Angeles Dodgers-Boston Red Sox World Series — also on a Tuesday — got a 3.4 rating and 12.6 million total viewers in these fast-affiliate ratings.
