'Friday the 13th' Reboot Delayed Until 2017
Fans of Jason Voorhees and a murderous video tape will have to wait a bit longer before new versions of these horror staples will hit theaters. Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has pushed its long-awaited Friday the 13th reboot from May 13, 2016 to January 13, 2017, and has dated The Ring sequel Rings for release on April 1, 2016. Last month, the studio pushed Rings out of its November 13, 2015 release date into an unspecified 2016 slot, which has now been revealed as April Fools Day of next year.

Today's news marks the third time Paramount has pushed Friday the 13th, which had been originally set for release on March 13, 2015, way back in 2013. The reboot was later pushed to November 13, 2015, and then to May 13, 2016, before landing on its new January 13, 2017 release date. Despite the mid-January release date, the project actually has quite a bit of competition, going up against Sony's The Dark Tower, Warner Bros.' Geostorm,
