Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1985. The lineup, when first signed to Geffen Records in 1986, consisted of vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. Guns N' Roses has released six studio albums, accumulating sales of more than 100 million records worldwide, including 45 million in the United States, making them the 41st best-selling artist of all time.

Their song "Welcome to the Jungle", which proved to be their breakthrough hit to MTV and rock radio, is considered by many to be the definitive anthem to L.A.'s harsh underbelly of violence and sleaze. Ironically, singer Axl Rose wrote the lyrics to the song while in Seattle.
The original band members were Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler.
They were ranked #9 on VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists and #40 on VH1's 100 Sexiest Artists.
Their album "Appetite For Destruction" was indirectly referred to by the narrator in the opening monologue of 1000 Ways to Die: Putting a Happy Face on Death (2009).
