Legendary L.A. Band Redd Kross Drop Trailer for ‘Born Innocent’ Documentary
Redd Kross are one of the longest-running bands Los Angeles has spawned in its history, with a career that launched in the city’s late 1970s punk scene, carried into the power-pop era of the 1980s, then into the alt-rock boom of the ‘90s and straight into the present — the band released a new album just last month.

While Redd Kross never quite broke through — make that haven’t yet broken through — in as big a way as many thought they deserved, the band has a formidable discography, they’ve always put on enormously entertaining live shows, and the brothers are some of the funniest, most gossip-spewing interviewees one could ever hope for. Equally influenced by punk, Kiss, the Partridge Family and pop culture — their first single was called “Linda Blair” — the group reveled in a self-deprecating kitsch and level of humor that flew in the face of nearly every

Before He Was Shazam, Zachary Levi Really Wanted to Play Deadpool

Before He Was Shazam, Zachary Levi Really Wanted to Play Deadpool
Before he donned the red padded-out suit to play the title character of Shazam!, Zachary Levi wanted to be a Marvel superhero. No, not the one that he briefly played in the Thor franchise, but a Marvel character that shares a similarly colored suit and a disposition for mouthing off. Zachary Levi revealed that his dream superhero […]

Zachary Levi Really Wanted To Play Deadpool

While Ryan Reynolds has been perfect in the role of Deadpool, there’s another actor that really wanted to play the role. That actor is Shazam! star Zachary Levi. During an interview with Cb, Levi really wanted to play the character. He explained:

“I wanted to be Deadpool for so long. Like a long, long [time ago]. When I was reading Deadpool I wanted to be Deadpool, but Ryan is crushing that.”

I actually wouldn’t mind at least seeing what Zevi’s take on the character would be. I would never want Ryan Reynold’s replaced, but if Levi went out and filmed a fan-made Deadpool short, I’d totally watch it! Hell, there’s also always the opportunity for him to voice Deadpool in an animated series!

Levi goes on to talk about the parallels he sees between Shazam! and Deadpool, saying:

I actually kind of think that Deadpool and Shazam!

Shazam! director reveals original plans for Henry Cavill’s Superman cameo

While Warner Bros. and DC Films were unable to reach a deal with Henry Cavill to have him make Superman a cameo appearance in this year’s DC superhero adventure Shazam!, that didn’t deter the filmmakers from including the Man of Steel in the film’s final scenes.

As it turns out, we only got to see Supes from the chest down, with stuntman Ryan Handley serving as a body double, but now director David F. Sandberg has revealed what his original plans were for the scene should they have managed to secure Cavill’s services.

“He sat down at the table,” said Sandberg, referring to Superman’s high school cafeteria appearance. “They had a brief chat. There was a joke about [sort of] school food and then it ended with Freddy just leaning into him, and it going like, ‘I have so many questions,’ and then it cut out.”

Shazam! Star Zachary Levi Wanted To Play Deadpool Originally

Zachary Levi has ticked off both the McU and the Dceu in his career, having played Fandral in Thor: The Dark World and, much more notably, the lead in this April’s Shazam! The star’s now revealed a dream he once had though to join the X-Men universe as well. And as none other than the Merc with a Mouth himself, Deadpool.

While attending Fan Expo Boston, Levi came clean that he used to want to play Wade Wilson on the big screen, though he admits this wish is going back awhile. Nowadays, he loves Ryan Reynolds in the part, with the actor saying:

“I wanted to be Deadpool for so long. Like a long, long [time ago]. When I was reading Deadpool I wanted to be Deadpool, but Ryan is crushing that. They’ve done so well with creating that.”

Shazam Star Zachary Levi Really Wanted to Play Deadpool for a Long Time
Jake Gyllenhaal as Spider-Man. Dougray Scott as Wolverine. Nicholas Cage as Superman. The list of actors who almost played superheroes goes on and on. Well, you can now add Shazam! star Zachary Levi, who, while speaking at the Fan Expo Boston, opened up about his past longing to play the foul-mouthed Marvel anti-hero, Deadpool.

"I wanted to be Deadpool for so long. Like a long, long [time ago]. When I was reading Deadpool I wanted to be Deadpool, but Ryan is crushing that. They've done so well with creating that."

Zachary Levi praises the work of current live-action Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds, who has long been considered one of the most pitch perfect castings in comic book movie history. Of course, Levi has no reason to feel resentment toward his fellow A-lister, as he himself got the chance to don a red costume in this year's superhero comedy, Shazam!.

"I actually kind of think that Deadpool and Shazam!

Shazam's Zachary Levi is excited to throw down with The Rock's Black Adam

  • JoBlo
I don't know too many people who would be excited about trading blows with Dwayne Johnson. After all, the man is built like a brick shithouse, and could likely knock you into next week with just one flick of his meaty finger. That being said, Zachary Levi has recently expressed his enthusiasm to go toe-to-toe with The Rock's Black Adam when the villainous Shazam doppelgänger…

Zachary Levi Can’t Wait To Punch Dwayne Johnson In The Face In Shazam! Sequels

Shazam! may not have managed to hit the billion-dollar heights of Aquaman at the box office, but the movie nonetheless did solid business, and also became the most critically-acclaimed installment in the DC Extended Universe to date. Although a sequel hasn’t yet been given an official release date, star Zachary Levi is already raring to go and wants to get the follow-up in front of cameras sooner rather than later.

The obvious direction to go for the franchise is to see Shazam! square off with his arch-enemy, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, with the latter finally gearing up to start shooting after years of delays. In fact, Black Adam has been so long coming that Johnson initially signed on to play the title character way back in 2007.

Shazam!’s Zachary Levi Wants To Take On Superman In The Sequel

After the well-publicized behind-the-scenes turmoil that seemed to follow Justice League every step of the way, the DC Extended Universe has undergone something of an overhaul in recent years, and now seems more focused on telling standalone stories than forcibly tying everything into the same overarching narrative. This creative rethink brings the likes of The Batman, Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad, but there are still huge question marks surrounding the future of one of the studio’s marquee characters.

The big screen future of Superman has been under debate for a while now, with conflicting reports surrounding Henry Cavill’s tenure as the Kryptonian superhero. It was rumored that the actor was done playing the character after the in-development Man of Steel 2 was seemingly quietly abandoned, but Cavill has continually expressed his interest in staying on as the Big Blue Boy Scout.

If Superman isn’t getting a solo movie anytime soon,

Big Easy Con Dates and the Importance of Getting it Right for Fans

Aaron Sagers Sep 6, 2019

Big Easy Con in New Orleans is set to launch in November with the help of Shazam's Zachary Levi and more.

This article is presented in partnership with Leftfield Media and Big Easy Con.

It isn’t enough to throw a party in New Orleans; it has to be done the right way, in a style befitting the Crescent City. And that’s a big part of why the Big Easy Con pop culture event by Leftfield Media announced its inaugural show would be moved from June to November 1-3, 2019.

That’s according to Ron Brister, co-founder of Leftfield Media, who joined Den of Geek to discuss these changes, and to ensure that the “big” in Big Easy would be even bigger due to the November date.

“New Orleans is a vibrant, highly artistic community with a level of artisans, and crafters in the area that rivals most of the nation,

Emmy episode analysis: Rufus Sewell (‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’) charms as stubbornly drunk artist in ‘Look, She Made a Hat’

Emmy episode analysis: Rufus Sewell (‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’) charms as stubbornly drunk artist in ‘Look, She Made a Hat’
Rufus Sewell has had a career that spans over three decades in film, television and theater and is now nominated for his first Emmy Award for Best Comedy Guest Actor for playing artist, Declan Howell, on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” He’s submitted the Season 2 episode, “Look, She Made a Hat,” for Emmy consideration.

Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) is in the middle of a date with her new boyfriend, Dr. Benjamin Ettenberg (Zachary Levi), where he’s introducing her to New York’s art world. When they duck into a bar to grab a drink, Ben is shocked to see Declan Howell there as well, who he explains is a famous artist that no one knows about because he never sells his paintings. Howell is drunkenly lambasting Shakespeare when he tells the bartender he wants another drink. When the bartender says he’s too drunk, Howell gets up on the bar

Zachary Levi says Shazam would be “the fun one” in Justice League 2

If Justice League 2 happens, Zachary Levi says that Shazam would definitely be the “fun one”, standing apart from the other serious characters.

Will Justice League 2 ever happen? At this point, it doesn’t look likely considering the original’s poor reception and the subsequent great success DC has found making more standalone adventures.

If Warner Bros. does decide to pull the trigger on a sequel, however, Zachary Levi definitely wants his Shazam to be apart of it and believes he would be the “fun one”. Speaking at a fan Q&a at DragonCon (via ComicBook.com), the actor said:

“I hope so. I mean, I hope there’s a Justice League 2, and I hope that Shazam is in the Justice League 2…I think that would be so much fun. The fact that I get to play a 14-year-old with superpowers is just like the coolest f—-ing job ever, and

Shazam! Director Reveals Henry Cavill’s Original Superman Cameo

Shazam! ended with a big laugh, as Billy Batson surprised his best pal/adoptive brother Freddie Freeman at school by having Superman show up in the cafeteria. All we see is Big Blue from below the neck and Freddie’s shocked reaction before the credits cut in, but it’s a fun cameo to wrap up the movie with. Originally, however, this scene would’ve been somewhat longer and actually featured Henry Cavill back in the tights.

Director David F. Sandberg has now shed some light on how the extended cameo would’ve played out as well. During a Q&a on his Instagram account, the filmmaker teased some of the extra beats that had to be cut when Cavill didn’t end up returning, explaining that in the actual scene, it’s Zachary Levi’s stunt double standing in for the Man of Steel star. If Henry had returned though,

Dick Grayson Will Suit Up As Nightwing In Titans Season 2

Titans is about to return to DC Universe for its second season, and will continue to take Dick Grayson and his team closer to their depictions in the comics. Raven, Starfire and Wonder Girl are among those getting more traditional looks, and it seems change is ahead for Robin himself, too, as we’re hearing that the Boy Wonder will transition into Nightwing this season.

We Got This Covered has been told that Grayson will drop his Robin persona in season 2 and will officially become Nightwing, complete with a new costume. This intel comes to us via the same source who’s supplied us with accurate DC scoops in the past – for instance, Viola Davis is returning for The Suicide Squad and that Black Adam will be in Shazam! 3 (which Zachary Levi has since confirmed) – so we have no reason to doubt it.

This news also makes a lot of

Adam Brody comments on Shazam! sequels and spinoffs

Adam Brody, one of the stars of Shazam!, has commented on possible sequels and the expectations surrounding superhero movies.

Many fans enjoyed seeing the grown-up versions of the family on screen, with Adam Brody playing the adult version of Freddy Freeman thanks to the power of Shazam. But has the actor thought about possible sequels for the movie?

Well, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter the actor had the following to say: “Yes, but only in success. No one’s in the business anymore of making $100 million movies that aren’t made to be worlds. Even trilogies aren’t enough; they’re not even the model anymore. I’m not even saying this as a bad thing. Real success is a trilogy plus spinoffs. Real success is creating full worlds. Anything with that budget is made to make more of in success, which is exciting. That’s the thrill.

WB May Be Developing A Wonder Girl Titans Spinoff

Despite rumors questioning DC Universe’s future following the cancellation of Swamp Thing, Titans is cruising ahead into its second season, with the darker take on the Teen Titans turning out to be a real winner for Warner Bros. Television. They’ve already created one spinoff based on it, in the form of the equally-popular Doom Patrol, and from what we’re hearing there could be more on the horizon.

We Got This Covered has been informed by our sources – the same ones who told us Black Adam will feature in Shazam 3!, which Zachary Levi later confirmed – that the studio is considering spinoffs for a couple of Titans characters, one of them being Wonder Girl. This is not something they’re officially working on just yet but we’re told that they’re thinking about it. It’s likely that they’re waiting to see how well season 2 goes down

‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Goes to the Catskills for a Colorful Costume Makeover

‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Goes to the Catskills for a Colorful Costume Makeover
The sophomore season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” was a transitional one, with Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) and her family adjusting to new roles in 1959, and Emmy-nominated costume designer Donna Zakowska altering their wardrobes to suit the moment. In the opener (“Simone”), Rose (Marin Hinkle) ran away to Paris to revisit her bohemian past, and definitely looked the part. And, in the fourth episode (“We’re Going to the Catskills!”), Midge went to the annual summer retreat in the Catskills with an array of comfort clothes, unsure about her commitment to stand-up comedy.

“It’s about the indecisiveness of changing course: still wanting to be a child before making a very big adult decision to impact her whole life,” Zakowska said. Sure enough, Midge can’t even decide what to pack so she takes every outfit. “And the colors and the patterns really counter the heaviness of what was on her mind,
