Willem Defoe Joins Guillermo del Toro's Psychological Horror Thriller Nightmare Alley

Willem Dafoe is set to join Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, and Rooney Mara in director Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film Nightmare Alley.

The movie is based on the 1946 novel which tells the story of an “ambitious young con-man who hooks up with a female psychiatrist who is even more corrupt than he is. At first, they enjoy success fleecing people with their mentalist act, but then she turns the table on him, out-manipulating the manipulator.”

Dafoe will play “the head barker at a traveling carnival who gives Bradley Cooper’s character a job, ushering him into a world of show biz and grifting.” I love Dafoe, and it’s great to see him jump on board a Del Toro movie!

When previously talking about the movie, Del Toro described it as “just a straight, really dark story.” When asked if he could tease anything about the movie, the filmmaker

Knives Out Review: A Deadly Entertaining Modern Murder Mystery [Fantastic Fest 2019]
There is a reason murder mystery flicks have survived for as long as they have in Hollywood. When executed well, they're engaging and amusing. Yet, this is a type of tale that has been around for a very long time and it feels like an area that's hard to break new ground in. With Knives Out, writer/director Rian Johnson has managed to pull off just that, by crafting a truly unique and highly entertaining modern whodunit, with a killer, stacked ensemble cast for the ages.

Knives Out centers on the death of renowned crime novelist Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), who is found dead at his estate just after his 85th birthday. Following the incident, the entire family is gathered for the investigation, which is led by the inquisitive and quirky detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig). Blanc and the police must sift through a web of red herrings and self-serving

Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison, Michael Shannon as George Westinghouse, and Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla, also joined by Katherine Waterston, Tom Holland, Tuppence Middleton, Damien Molony, and Matthew Macfadyen.
