Flashback: Bobby Brown Takes Control With ‘On Our Own’ From ‘Ghostbusters 2’

Flashback: Bobby Brown Takes Control With ‘On Our Own’ From ‘Ghostbusters 2’
Cramming the plot of Ghostbusters 2 into a four-minute pop song is no easy task, but Bobby Brown handled it with tremendous skill on his New Jack Swing masterpiece “On Our Own,” which peaked at Number Two on the Hot 100 30 years ago this week. “Found about Vigo, the master of evil,” he sang, referencing an evil 16th-century spirit trapped inside a painting in the movie. “Try to battle my boys? That’s not legal!”

The movie landed in theaters during one of the busiest summers in the history of Hollywood up to that point.

Paul Rudd Joins the Cast of Ghostbusters 3

Joseph Baxter Jun 27, 2019

The long-awaited 2020 Ghostbusters threequel adds the inimitable Paul Rudd.

Paul Rudd is about to enter the world of the Ghostbusters film franchise, set to trade Ant-Man’s Quantum Realm for the threshold of the spiritual plane.

Sony Pictures, the studio behind the yet-to-be-titled Ghostbusters 3, is in final negotiations to procure Paul Rudd for its cast, reports Variety. Should said negotiations pan out (as seemingly likely), Rudd would prospectively play a character who is – ambiguously – described as “a teacher.” For now, it remains to be seen if the film will see Rudd strap on a proton pack and discover if – as Ray Parker Jr. famously sung – bustin’ makes him feel good. A tweeted video from the official Ghostbusters account, showing Rudd outside a familiar locale, confirms the notion as reality.

Rudd would prospectively join a cast that,

Sigourney Weaver Confirms She’ll Appear In ‘Ghostbusters 3’ Along With Other Original Stars
When Ghostbusters 3 arrives in theaters next summer, Sigourney Weaver will be along for the ride.

The actress confirmed she’ll join co-stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in the sequel, as she reprises her role as cellist Dana Barrett.

“It’s going to be crazy working with the guys again!” Weaver told Parade magazine in a lengthy feature about her life and career.

Weaver introduced the role of Barrett, whose apartment was haunted by an evil spirit, in the original 1984 film. She had a feeling the movie would be a hit.

“I knew it would be big. The script was so funny and full of heart,” she said. “Ghostbusters changed my life.”

The Oscar-nominated actress wouldn’t give any secrets away about the new entry. But we do know it’s being helmed by Jason Reitman, son of original director Ivan Reitman.

The next installment — slated for a July 2020 release

Ghostbusters 3 Director Teases Big Surprise Coming This Weekend

Earlier this year, Jason Reitman announced he was writing and directing a new Ghostbusters film, which unlike the 2016 sequel, would be set in the same continuity as the original classic. Jason, who is also the son of Ghostbusters (1984) director Ivan Reitman, said he would “hand the movie back to the fans,” and now it seems we’re getting a little taste of that promise.

Ghostbusters Fan Fest is set to take place this Saturday in Los Angeles on the Sony Pictures Studio Lot. The Juno director revealed last night on Twitter that he’s bringing something to the festival this weekend, but we don’t know yet whether it’s related to his father’s movie, his upcoming sequel, or both.

In the tweet, Reitman shared an alternate take of Bill Murray from the original film, a time-coded shot of the actor shouting off, “I could use a tall cold one right now.

Rolling Stones Backup Singer Bernard Fowler on the Poetry of Mick Jagger
Could Mick Jagger — singer of “Satisfaction,” “Paint It Black,” “Start Me Up” and dozens more songs you know by heart — be underrated as a lyricist? That’s the theory Rolling Stones backup singer Bernard Fowler was working with when he recorded his newest album, Inside Out. “I think that a lot of people who know and love the Rolling Stones miss a lot of important things that are being said,” Fowler tells Rolling Stone. “So I didn’t want to do a cover record; I wanted to do something radically different.

First Ghostbusters 3 Teaser Poster Reminds Us Who to Call

First Ghostbusters 3 Teaser Poster Reminds Us Who to Call
Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters 3 is currently in the casting process and a new promo poster has been revealed. The poster uses the same image of the iconic Ecto-1 we previously saw, but it adds a pretty substantial change. Franchise fans aren't sure exactly what to think about the upcoming sequel, which is mainly due to the fact that we don't have a whole lot of information to go off at the moment. However, we do know the movie will center on a young teenage cast, leading to comparisons of 2016's all-female reboot.

The Ghostbusters 3 promo poster says, "Summer 2020. You Know Who to Call." We all know we're supposed to call the Ghostbusters in case of a supernatural emergency, but where are they now? Jason Reitman has stated the new movie takes place in the present day, which more than likely means our original heroes have probably retired from the bustin' business by now.

With ‘Motown Magic,’ Netflix Brings Soul Music to a New Generation

Musical history has never been as accessible as it is in the streaming era. At the same time, it’s remarkably disposable: A recent study by the British Phonographic Industry revealed that music from the Sixties accounted for just 6.4% of all streams in the U.K. in 2017. Streamers prefer the recent past by a stunning margin: Music from the 2000s accounted for 60.4% of listening.

Numbers like that add urgency to the imperative to preserve the oldies, and that’s part of what drives the new Netflix show Motown Magic, which
