Was to debut in a film in a film titled "Footpath" in 1992. This was the reason he turned down the film "Khiladi". Footpath was eventually shelved. The film starred Salman Khan,Arbaaz Khan, Ritu Shivpuri, Directed by Deepak Shivdsani. The rights to the title was with Mukesh Bhatt. He allowed Deepak permission to use it for his film. Years laters the Bhatts made a film Footpath but with a different storyline.
Attempted to remake Fatal Attraction with Zeenat Aman in 1993. The film was to be directed by Abbas Mustan.
Debut film was suppose to be " Ram" starring Salman Khan,Pooja Bhatt, Arbaaz Khan (Replaced Abhishek Kapoor), Sonali Bendre (Replaced Shilpa Shetty), Nasir Khan.. The film was started in 1994 and was produced by Mansoor Siddique. After a argument between Sohail and Mansoor erupted, the film was shelved. The film was 40% complete. Mansoor Siddique then sold the title song of the film " Tujhe Manga Tha Tujhe Paya Hain" to producer Firoz Nadiadwala. Firoz used it for his film " Ram Shastra".
Was close friends with Raveena Tandon before entering the film industry.
Was involved with Ektaa in 1990.
Deepak Shivdasani wanted to launch Arbaaz Khan in a film with Ritu Shivpuri back in 1991. The film never got made.
Clashed with Ajit's son "Arbaaz Ali Khan" over using the name "Arbaaz Khan" in films. Since both of their names were same,Arbaaz Ali Khan requested Salman's brother Arbaaz to use another name so people would not get confused. Arbaaz Ali Khan's argument was that he was senior and had debuted in 1990. Salman's brother refused to listen and retained his original name. This would cause friction between the two of them.
