He was an admirer of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It was rumored he did not attend the state funeral of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965 because Churchill had not attended Roosevelt's funeral twenty years earlier. Officially Johnson did not attend because he had a heavy cold. See more »
