The legal drama wrapped production Thursday after nine seasons of triumphs, defeats, and romantic liaisons.

“Nine years ago I started the Suits journey,” Macht wrote. “It all began with the most important person in my life by my side. This life that has offered us so much… some easy, many challenging, countless miles apart and hours, days, and months separating us and our loved ones not to mention years of sacrifice on so many levels. How ‘Pearson’ Will Usher in a New Storytelling Era When ‘Suits’ Closes Down Shop

How ‘Pearson’ Will Usher in a New Storytelling Era When ‘Suits’ Closes Down Shop
When “Suits” closes the file on its final stretch of episodes this fall, it leaves behind a legacy of nine seasons, 134 episodes, two remakes (in Korea and Japan), a slew of international broadcasters, and a royal wedding that transformed series star Meghan Markle into a global, household name.

The July 17 premiere also marks the official end to USA’s once-popular “blue sky” era, as the slick and aspirational characters bid farewell and the network ushers in the grittier “Pearson” spinoff starring Gina Torres on the same night. Both series are produced by Ucp.

Clocking in at just 10 episodes, the final season of “Suits” is the shortest run of the series, coming in just behind the first season’s 12-episode order. Within that run each of the current series regulars — originals Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman and newer members Katherine Heigl, Amanda Schull and Dulé Hill — will have a dedicated episode to their characters.

Suits will be bringing back an original series regular before the legal drama comes to a close.

According to Deadline, Patrick J. Adams will reprise the role of Mike Ross on Suits Season 9 Episode 5.

His return will put him up against his best friend, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Samantha Wheeler.

“He doesn’t exactly know that Samantha is going to be involved when he comes back, but he does know Harvey is going to be,” Aaron Korsh told the website.

Patrick J. Adams to Return for ‘Suits’ Final Season

  • The Wrap
Patrick J. Adams to Return for ‘Suits’ Final Season
Patrick J. Adams will return to USA’s “Suits” for its ninth and final season, USA Network told TheWrap.

He is set to reprise his role as Mike Ross, the on-screen husband of Rachel Zane, who was played by the now-Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle. Per the cable channel, Adams will come back mid-season to get involved in a case that puts him toe to toe with Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Samantha Wheeler (Katherine Heigl).

Ross — and thus, Adams — left the series at the end of Season 7 to move to Seattle with Rachel. When TheWrap asked USA if Markle will return, the net referred us to series creator Aaron Korsch’s pretty consistent remarks about that popular question. Basically, she’s always welcome back — but don’t hold your breath.

While that is Adams’ only confirmed involvement so far, I hear he also is expected to make an appearance in Suits‘ series finale.

“I couldn’t be happier to be part of the final chapter of Suits. I’ve missed my TV family, and am looking forward to seeing what kind of trouble Mike Ross can stir up at the firm one last time,” Adams told Deadline before adding, “But if the wardrobe department thinks they’re getting back the suits I stole when I left, they’re going to be very disappointed.”
