Im Global founder and CEO Stuart Ford has been forced out of the company he founded 10 years ago, Screen has learned.

It is understood the departure happened over the weekend following ongoing disagreement with the shareholders over the direction of the company and matters had escalated in recent weeks to the point of rancour.

Tang Media Partners (Tmp), which acquired a 60% stake in Im Global last year, notified Im Global staff on Monday morning at the company’s West Hollywood offices. Im Global employs around 60 people and has offices in Los Angeles, New York, London, Munich, Mumbai, Mexico City, Beijing and Shanghai.

Im Global was riding high in its tenth anniversary year. Among the company’s typically robust volume of films was recent Oscar winner Hacksaw Ridge. Besides a busy sales business, the company’s growing roster of self-produced and financed features includes three that had been put

Company ramps up unscripted and alternative division

Im Global Television’s president of unscripted & alternative, Phil Gurin, has revealed the hiring of Jennifer Colbert as vice president of development, Tim Rosenman as director of development and Casey Kelly as manager of development.

Colbert previously served as an executive producer and showrunner for networks including A&E, Lifetime and Vh-1, as well as with production companies including Studio Lambert/All3 Media, 44 Blue Productions and Fishbowl Worldwide Media. Colbert has worked on reality shows like Talk Soup and Girls Next Door.

Rosenman joins Im Global TV having previously served as a development executive for Done and Done Productions and Lionsgate. He has worked on such shows as The City and The X Factor and was a consulting producer on American Idol for their season 14 finale and a new format for their 15th and final season.

The Los Angeles-based company has brought on Emmy-winning producer Phil Gurin to lead the new venture, Im Global executive chairman Donald Tang and Im Global founder and CEO and Im Global Television CEO Stuart Ford said on Tuesday.

The new unscripted and alternative division marks the latest expansion for Im Global and will create, acquire and co-develop content in all unscripted and alternative genres across all platforms.

As president of unscripted and alternative content Gurin, who won three Primetime Emmy Awards as an executive producer on ABC’s Shark Tank, will also work with brands and broadcasters to initiate new revenue models with partners and expand with production and development offices overseas. He will report directly to Ford.

The division will complement Im Global Television’s scripted operation, which is led by president Mark Stern and overseen by Ford.

Nominations for the 2016 PGA Awards announced

The Producer’s Guild of America has announced that The Big Short, Bridge Of Spies, Brooklyn, Ex Machina, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Martian, The Revenant, Sicario, Spotlight and Straight Outta Compton will contest the 2015 Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures at the 2016 PGA Awards.

Traditionally, the majority of PGA Award nominees will also find themselves nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, given that they share many of the same voters. Which probably means bad luck for the likes of Carol and Room.

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today the motion picture, long-form television, digital series, sports programs and additional television nominations for the 27th Annual Producers Guild Awards.

The categories include: The Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures; The Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures; The David L. Wolper Award for Outstanding Producer of Long-Form Television; Outstanding Sports Program; and Outstanding Digital Series. The feature documentary film category and other television category nominations were previously announced by the PGA in late 2015.

Producers Guild Redeems "The Lego Movie," "Life Itself"

Two films forgotten by the Academy, the animated adventure "The Lego Movie" and the Roger Ebert Documentary "Life Itself," triumphed at the recently concluded 2015 Producers Guild Awards.

"The Lego Movie" took home the Award for Outstanding Producer of Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures for producer Dan Lin while "Life Itself" won the Award for Outstanding Producer of Documentary Theatrical Motion Pictures for producers Garrett Basch, Steve James, and Zak Piper.

Meanwhile, Alejandro G. Iñárritu, John Lesher, and James W. Skotchdopole took the Oscar glitter away from Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" when "Birdman" was awarded the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

Birdman, The Lego Movie and Breaking Bad among the winners at the 2015 PGA Awards

The road to the Oscars continued last night in Los Angeles as the Producers Guild of America presented the 2015 PGA Awards, with Birdman scooping the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

Despite being snubbed by the Oscars, The Lego Movie was victorious in the Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures category, while the television winners including Breaking Bad (Episodic Television, Drama), Orange Is the New Black (Episodic Television, Comedy) and Fargo (Long-Form Television).
