Don Kaye Oct 22, 2019

James Cameron tells us why Terminator: Dark Fate is a fresh start for him and the franchise.

Now, however, after winning back the rights to the property and being courted by producer David Ellison to take a more active role, Cameron is back as a hands-on producer and co-writer for Terminator: Dark Fate, a film touted as the first direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

The sources say Sony boss Tom Rothman is considering selling the expensive project to Netflix in order to minimize risk, which might be a wise decision. With that being said, is Netflix going to want a movie which has been in development since 2007?

Apparently, the dilemma for Sony and the Masters of the Universe movie revolves around the cost of making it. ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’: James Cameron On Rewired Franchise, Possible New Trilogy
Exclusive: James Cameron understands better than anyone that revisiting the past to alter the course of history is a dicey proposition at best, but that hasn’t stopped the Hollywood titan from taking on his latest cinematic mission: returning to The Terminator franchise that gave him the first signature success of his history-making career.

“It’s special,” Cameron said of the Terminator success that propelled him toward ever-grander spectacle projects like Aliens, The Abyss, Titanic, and Avatar. Sci-fi’s greatest showman moved on from his Skynet series in 1991, but now he’s reunited with his first great cinematic brand through Terminator: Dark Fate, the Skydance Productions and Paramount Pictures release that hits theaters November 1.

Cameron is joined by the franchise’s two signature stars, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton, as well as Edward Furlong, who was a child actor when he portrayed John Connor 28 years ago in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Guillermo Del Toro's Antlers Trailer Pulls Keri Russell Into a Dark Fairy Tale

Fox Searchlight has released the first trailer for Antlers. This is the latest horror offering from Guillermo del Toro, who is back up to his monster business in this one. Del Toro serves as a producer on the creature feature, but it's Scott Cooper (Black Mass) who is in the director's chair. Based on this first trailer, it appears that's going to make for one heck of a creepy pairing, as this initial footage is ominous, horrifying and downright unsettling.

The trailer kicks off with a quiet child reading a story out loud to his class. It becomes clear very fast that something isn't quite right with this kid, or the story he's telling. His teacher looks understandably concerned. While that's happening, we're cutting away to footage of this kid's home life, which is anything but usual. It all builds to a scattershot conclusion of various, eyebrow-raising and terrifying shots.
