  • The Wrap
CBS All Access dropped a trailer for its highly anticipated new series “Star Trek: Picard” at New York Comic Con on Saturday, featuring a look at the former captain fighting the test of time in a Federation where he is no longer welcome.

The trailer opens in picturesque vineyard, with Data painting a cryptic portrait of a cloaked figure standing on the edge of a stormy sea. When a pensive-looking Picard slowly approaches, Data asks, “Would you like to finish it, Captain?”

Picard responds, “I don’t know how.”

Flash cuts of a space fight abruptly end with Picard seemingly waking from a dream. What follows is the captain determined to stand up for the Federation and “what it should still represent,” only to be harshly told, “This is no longer your house, Jean-Luc. Go home!”

Then on the evening of their meeting, Sorkin's friend and Beautiful Mind writer Akiva Goldsman suggested there might be a TV show in the premise from Sorkin's film The American President. Only instead of romance, it should be about the senior staff. So when Sorkin showed up to the lunch and saw Wells with a group of ...

The West Wing” debuted 20 years ago in the fall of 1999 when Bill Clinton was in office, and the Aaron Sorkin-created political drama ran for seven seasons, through the Bush administration. Looking back now, Sorkin says the storylines that seemed like a big deal at the time seem “so quaint” in 2019.

“We know we’re living in unnerving times — especially this past week has been really incredible,” Sorkin said Friday at opening night of New York PaleyFest, regarding recent events in Donald Trump’s presidency.

At PaleyFest, Sorkin handpicked the Season 2 finale to be screened before his sit-down conversation. A major storyline of the episode, titled “Two Cathedrals,” revolves around Martin Sheen’s character, the president of the United States, who is hiding the fact that he has multiple sclerosis. Sorkin watched the episode from the control room, before coming out on stage.

“I thought, watching the past couple of minutes,

Doctor Sleep Final Trailer Brings Danny Torrance Back to the Overlook Hotel
The final Doctor Sleep trailer has arrived and it brings us to familiar territory. The latest look at the movie was teased earlier this week with a brief trailer. Doctor Sleep is based on Stephen King's recent sequel to the iconic The Shining and follows the grown-up Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor) as he tries to live with the blessing and curse of Shining. From the look of things, horror fans are going to be very excited by what they see on the big screen at the beginning of November.

The new Doctor Sleep trailer mostly plays off of nostalgia, which is currently a big business. The Overlook Hotel is prominently on display, and that is worth the price of admission alone. There's also shots of twins, a young version of Danny on his iconic Big Wheel, and blood spilling out of an elevator door. We're in some very familiar territory here,
