Warner Bros. Developing A Training Day Prequel

Training Day is one of the gems of early 2000’s cinema. It featured both Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke at the height of their games and the movie displayed a raw and gritty take on what it meant to be a police officer in the modern age, not shying away from some of the harsh truths, even while it was exaggerating them.

The film, which was written by David Ayer and directed by Antoine Fuqua, went on to become a huge hit with fans and grossed more than $100 million at the box office. It was also a critical darling, with reviewers gushing over the no holds barred story.

Denzel Washington’s portrayal of the egomaniacal Detective Alonzo Harris was particularly lauded, with many calling it one of his best performances. Washington would go on to be nominated for a plethora of awards, too, including the Academy Award for Best Actor,

This would set the film just on the eve of the La Riots that followed. The riots, which turned Los Angeles into a fiery war zone that left nearly no neighborhood unscathed, lasted nearly a week — and changed the face of the city forever. No word yet on any additional cast or crew attached to the upcoming “Training Day” prequel.

According to Sneider, the prequel will center on a younger version of Alonzo Harris, the shady, off-the-books narcotics detective

Film Review: ‘Black and Blue’

  • Variety
Film Review: ‘Black and Blue’
A timely yet undercooked action-thriller about police corruption and racism, “Black and Blue” cuts to the chase from its very first, promising sequence. Along the beats of Lecrae’s social injustice-themed “Welcome to America,” Alicia West (Naomie Harris) jogs through the middle-class streets of a suburban New Orleans neighborhood, only to be stopped and harassed by a pair of suspicious white cops, interrogating her with excessive force for no reason. It’s not long before the cops realize that “she is a blue,” a part of their team, and let her go; though with palpable arrogance. It’s clear that they would face no consequences, even after illegally slamming one of their own against a fence. Their privilege happens to be standard operating procedure.

It’s a powerful scene, all too real in today’s world where amateur cell phone videos of similar or worse cases of police brutality continue to go viral.

Kiefer Sutherland Cast in The Fugitive Series at Quibi

24 star Kiefer Sutherland is set to star in a series adaption of the classic story The Fugitive. Most people are familiar with the 1993 Harrison Ford movie, which was such a fantastic film!

Sutherland has perfectly been cast in the role of Detective Clay Bryce who is trying to apprehend Mike Ferro, who is being played by Boyd Holbrook. Bryce is pretty much the detective character that was played by Tommy Lee Jones in the movie. The names of the characters have obviously been changed and here’s the synopsis that was provided:

When a bomb rips through the Los Angeles subway train he’s riding on, blue-collar Mike Ferro (Holbrook) just wants to make sure his wife, Allison, and 10-year-old daughter, Pearl, are safe. But the faulty evidence on the ground and “tweet-now, confirm-later” journalism paint a nightmarish picture: it looks to all the world that Mike was responsible for the heinous act.

The logline for the series sounds similar to the original film, but with a few key differences: When a bomb rips through the Los Angeles subway train he’s riding on, blue-collar Mike Ferro (Holbrook) just wants to make sure his wife, Allison, and 10-year-old daughter, Pearl, are safe. But the faulty evidence on the ground and “tweet-now, confirm-later” journalism paint a nightmarish picture: it looks to all the world that Mike was responsible for the heinous act. Wrongfully—and very publicly—accused,
