Charlie Drake was born on June 19, 1925 in Elephant and Castle, London, England as Charles Edward Springall. He was an actor and writer, known for The Cracksman (1963), Sinderella Live (1995) and Masterpiece Theatre: Bleak House (1985). He was married to Elaine Bird and Heather Barnes. He died on December 23, 2006 in Twickenham, Middlesex, England.

Pint-sized, squeaky-voiced slapstick comedian, briefly fashionable in British TV and films of the 1960's.
The Charlie Drake Show: The World of Charlie Drake (1968) won the Charlie Chaplin award at the 1968 Montreux Festival as the funniest TV show. The programme included a sketch where he played numerous parts in a comic version of the 1812 Overture in E Flat.
His career in TV comedy came to an end because he was reportedly difficult to work with.
