Having already spent the last couple of years terrorizing would-be escapees of Camp Crystal Lake on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, hockey mask aficionado Jason Vorhees has set his sights on terrorizing an entirely new audience.

As we previously reported, Friday the 13th: The Game is finally heading to the Nintendo Switch, and after a brief delay (it was originally due out this past spring), things are on track for a release in August. Not only will you be able to play as Jason (or his would-be victims) on the go, but Gun Media and developer Black Tower Studios are bringing an “Ultimate Slasher Edition” to retail, which is sure to please longtime fans.

Friday The 13th Franchise Still Held Up In Messy Legal Battle

It has been a decade since a Friday the 13th film has graced the silver screen with its particular brand of slasher nuance. That 2009 reboot of the franchise, while not awful, didn’t exactly do gangbusters at the box office. There was an attempt in 2018 to make the 13th effort in Jason’s filmography, but that try was ultimately derailed by the ongoing lawsuit between Sean S. Cunningham, director of the first movie, and Victor Miller, writer of the original entry. Last fall, courts granted ownership rights to Miller. Now, Cunningham is filing an appeal to that ruling.

Entertainment lawyer and star of Friday the 13th Part III Larry Zerner posted on Twitter to update the masses on the ongoing lawsuit. Unfortunately though, the news is not what fans wanted to hear: there was no deal between the dueling creators during mediation, which means that Camp Crystal Lake will not

Excited for the long weekend and looking to catch up on some classic horror movies, but you’re on a budget (or maybe you just love a great deal)? Here’s a list of more than 50 different horror movies that are currently streaming for free on both the Tubi and Vudu platforms, featuring slashers, creature features, sci-fi/horror mash-ups, cult classics, and films from the likes of George A. Romero, John Carpenter, Dario Argento, David Cronenberg, and so many more talented horror greats.

The only caveat is that you have to endure some advertisements and then you’re all set with endless terror-filled entertainment choices for this Memorial Day Weekend.
