Brenda Cowling was born on April 23, 1925 in Islington, London, England as Brenda Rose Cowling. She is known for her work on Octopussy (1983), You Rang, M'Lord? (1988) and Pink Floyd: The Wall (1982). She died on October 2, 2010 in Denville Hall, Northwood, London.

Attended RADA in the 1940s, where she was a classmate of Warren Mitchell and Jimmy Perry. Cowling would later make guest appearances in sitcoms co-written by Perry: Dad's Army (1968), It Ain't Half Hot Mum (1974) and Hi-de-Hi! (1980). She then got a regular role in a Perry sitcom when she played Mrs. Lipton in You Rang, M'Lord? (1988).
Retired following a stroke in 2006.
Her father worked in publishing.
Prior to acting, she worked as a secretary for a London stockbroker.
