The actor appeared on The Talk Tuesday and when asked about the show he teased that one of TV’s favorite vampires will be returning.
“We’re coming up on 20 years. I mean, that’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that and that’s where I really started my gig — this acting world,” said Boreanaz.
“I love that character,” Boreanaz added. “So, I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away much. I can say, it’s 20 years coming up this fall and we may have something in the works.”
The Angel return came up
Buffy is one of my favorite shows of all time, and I’ve recently been watching it again with my daughters who have been loving it! It’s so funny to watch them react the ‘90s era of the show.
To celebrate and mark the occasion, Sarah Michelle Gellar, David Boreanaz, Nicholas Brendon, and Charisma Carpenter all chimed in on social media.

Clearly March is a huge month in my life. 22 years ago today, the show that changed my life, debuted on a little known network, the wb. To everyone that took a chance on me and this show, thank you. And to all the fans, that watched from the beginning and to those just discovering, thank
The titular slayer was not on hand unfortunately, but her fellow supernatural-hunting friends were. Her Bff Willow, Alyson Hannigan was on hand as well as her partner Amber Benson, who played her girlfriend Tara. James Marsters, who played the vampire we love to hate Spike was also on hand as well as Charisma Carpenter who played the resident diva Cordelia as well as Nicholas Brendon who portrayed Xander. Also in attendance were actors Julie Benz, Iyari Limon, Amy Acker, James Leary, Clare Kramer, and Alexis Denisof.
Many took to Instagram to post pics of the reunion. Carpenter posted a group pic with the caption, “Demons and vampires and scoobies oh my!
The only two main actors that didn’t attend were Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz, which is a shame. But it is cool to see everyone else come together again!
In the reunion photo below you’ll see Amber Benson (Tara), Julie Benz (Darla), Iyari Limon (Kennedy), Amy Acker (Fred), James Leary (Clem), James Marsters (Spike), Clare Kramer (Glory), Alexis Denisof (Wesley), Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Alyson Hannigan (Willow), and Nicholas Brendon (Xander) all together again. The photo came with the caption:
“Witches, demons, vampires, watchers, slayer, Gods, and Scoobies oh my!”
There are also additional photos and video footage for you to check out as well. As a fan of these shows, it would have been awesome to be in attendance at this event.

After establishing that she is a die-hard Buffy fan, showrunner and writer Monica Owusu-Breen (Midnight, Texas) tweeted Thursday that the characters that populated the original series “can’t be replaced. Joss Whedon’s brilliant and beautiful series can’t be replicated. I wouldn’t try to.”
She went on to say that in the years since Buffy premiered, “the world seems a lot scarier. So maybe,
Owusu-Breen tweeted Thursday that “there is only one Buffy.”
“For seven seasons, I watched Buffy Summers grow up, find love, kill that love. I watched her fight, and struggle and slay. There is only one Buffy. One Xander, one Willow, GIles, Cordelia, Oz, Tara, Kendra, Faith, Spike, Angel… They can’t be replaced. Joss Whedon’s brilliant and beautiful series can’t be replicated. I wouldn’t try to,” she wrote.
Instead, she wants to focus on a new cast of characters, including a new slayer, for today’s complicated time.
The reboot of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” comes from original series creator Whedon, who is set to executive produce the new version of the story. Owusu-Breen will pen the pilot script.
That said, the “Midnight, Texas” creator — who will be executive producing “Buffy”s return to the small screen along with Og creator Joss Whedon, and acting as showrunner — also thinks “it could be time to meet a new Slayer.”
“For some genre writers it’s ‘Star Wars,'” Owusu-Breen said in a statement posted to her verified Twitter account Thursday. “‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ is my ‘Star Wars’. Before I became a writer, I was a fan. For seven seasons, I watched Buffy Summers grow up, find love, kill that love. I watched her fight, and struggle and slay. There is only one Buffy. One Xander, one Willow, Giles, Cordelia, Oz, Tara, Kendra, Faith, Spike, Angel … They can’t be replaced. Joss Whedon
From Monica Owusu-Breen and Whedon, the reboot will feature an African American lead "and like the original, some aspects of the series could be seen as metaphors for issues facing us all today.” The original series ran on The WB/Upn from 1997 to 2003. The cast included Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Head, James Marsters, Emma Caulfield, Michelle Trachtenberg, Kristine Sutherland, Charisma Carpenter, and David Boreanaz.
This “Buffy” won’t be a continuation of the original series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, but will feature a brand-new Buffy, who will be African-American. There’s no network attached as of yet.
Besides Whedon, original executive producers Gail Berman, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui are also behind the revival (and Berman’s The Jackal Group partner Joe Earley is also attached). Fox 21 TV Studios is expected to pitch the new show to cable and streaming outlets this summer.
This would be the third version of “Buffy,” following the 1992 film with Kristy Swanson in the title role, and then the series, which first debuted on The WB
20th Century Fox has put a reboot of the Joss Whedon series from “Midnight, Texas” creator Monica Owusu-Breen into development, TheWrap has confirmed.
The new take, which Whedon will also executive produce, is set to feature a black lead character.

Gail Berman, Joe Earley, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui are also attached to serve as executive producers on the new potential series. No network is attached, though producers are set to begin shopping the series later this year.
The original series, starring by Sarah Michelle Gellar as the titular hero, ran for seven seasons beginning in 1997, five on The WB and two more on Upn. The fan-favorite series is widely regarded as one of the greatest TV shows of all time,
Original series creator Joss Whedon is onboard to executive produce, with writer Monica Owusu-Breen attached to write the script. The rebooted series will see a black actress take over the title role, which was played in the series by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Gail Berman, Joe Earley, Fran Kazui and Kaz Kazui will also executive produce. No network is attached to the series, but it will no doubt stir up a bidding war among various networks and streaming services when it is taken to market.
Breen’s previous credits include “Agents of Shield,” which is executive produced by Whedon. She also developed and served as showrunner on “Midnight, Texas” at NBC, but departed the show after one season. She has also written and produced shows like “Charmed,” “Alias,” “Brothers & Sisters,” and “Fringe.
In the series of the same name, Cooper portrayed “Jack Bourdain,” an executive chef of an upscale restaurant called Nolita. The short-lived series ran for just one season on Fox during the 2005-06 TV season, averaging around 4 million viewers, according to Nielsen. Although 13 episodes were made, Fox only aired four of them.
The series premiered shortly after Cooper’s role in the 2005 comedy “Wedding Crashers.”
It also featured Nicholas Brendon, John Francis Daly, Jamie King, Bonnie Somerville, Owain Yeoman, John Cho and Frank Langella.
