Here's Why the Golden Globes Didn't Have an In Memoriam Segment

Here's Why the Golden Globes Didn't Have an In Memoriam Segment
The 2019 Golden Globes took place on Sunday evening, honoring the work of talented artists over the last year. While watching the award show, many social media users noted that there was no In Memoriam tribute shown. While other award shows like the Emmys and the Oscars often air an In Memoriam tribute, honoring the lives of the artists we've lost in the last 12 months, the Golden Globes don't typically have such a segment. Besides the show's memorable tribute to Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds in 2017, the Golden Globes tends to not air the In Memoriam tribute, deciding instead to post it on their website. Golden Globes producer Barry Adelman explained to People in 2017, "We...

Golden Globe Producers Talk Expectations for Hosts Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh

Golden Globe Producers Talk Expectations for Hosts Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh
As the Oscars struggled last month to find a host, the Golden Globes made it look easy in comparison. Pairing Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh was an unexpected choice, but one borne out of their presenter banter at the most recent Emmys — and a recognition that another solo, white male host would be a tone-deaf move in 2019.

The idea to tap Samberg as host came early in the process, and it made a lot of sense: He’s a “Saturday Night Live” alum who has hosted plenty of awards shows (including the Emmys). Plus, and this is key for Globes broadcaster NBC, his comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” moves to the Peacock this January.

“Andy is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. He is so committed to comedy,” says “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” executive producer Dan Goor. “You couldn’t do better than having Andy do anything. The only thing I

Dolly Parton Hopes to Perform ‘Dumplin” Song at the Golden Globes
It’s not easy to upstage Jennifer Aniston. But everyone at Thursday night’s premiere of her new Netflix flick, “Dumplin’,” seemed to be singing the praises of Dolly Parton, who earlier in the day received a Golden Globe nomination for “Girl in the Movies,” one of half a dozen new songs she wrote for the film. Aniston shared her predictions for the award show on the red carpet outside the Tcl Chinese Theater in Hollywood — and she, for one, is rooting for the country queen over Lady Gaga’s “A Star Is Born” song nomination.

“Because she’s Dolly, and she deserves it,” Aniston told Variety. “She contributed so much to our movie. She was only supposed to give us one song and ended up giving us six. We feel very spoiled by her.”

Director Anne Fletcher found the fact that cross-generational gay icons Gaga and Parton are competing
