John Abineri was born on May 18, 1928 in London, England. He was an actor, known for The Last of the Mohicans (1971), Robin Hood (1984) and The Children of the New Forest (1955). He was married to Hilary Bamford. He died on June 29, 2000 in Bath, Somerset, England.

Having an Austrian father, he spoke fluent German and thus landed many parts "on the other side" in war films.
Duncan Lamont had died while filming Blake's 7: Hostage (1979), so he took over the part of "Ushton".
He appeared in two versions of the Robin Hood story: The Legend of Robin Hood (1975) as Maid Marion's father and Robin Hood (1984) as the forest deity, Herne the Hunter. Sean Connery played Robin Hood in the former while his son Jason Connery played the role in the latter.
Had 3 sons and one daughter with his ex-wife, Hilary Bamford.
Father-in-law of Claudia Rosencrantz.
As well as English, he was also fluent in German, Russian and French.
Learned acting at the Old Vic Drama School.
