Castle Rock Season 2 Trailer Teases Chilling Misery Prequel

Castle Rock is switching things up for its second season.

Instead of serving as a sequel to Castle Rock Season 1, we will be getting a different tale set in the same town.

But this tale is based on Stephen King's Misery novel, which was turned into a popular movie led by Kathy Bates

It serves as an origins story for Annie Wilkes, and Lizzy Caplan is taking on the lead role as the "budding psychopath."

Here's the official logline:

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King's best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.

The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King's literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, It and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and

‘Castle Rock’ Trailer: Lizzy Caplan Leads a ‘Misery’ Origin Story in Season 2 of Stephen King Anthology

‘Castle Rock’ Trailer: Lizzy Caplan Leads a ‘Misery’ Origin Story in Season 2 of Stephen King Anthology
In the world of Stephen King novels, hospitals aren’t exactly the happiest of places. That’s especially true when Annie Wilkes is involved.

As part of Season 2 of “Castle Rock,” the Hulu anthology series based on the prolific author’s ever-growing body of work, Lizzy Caplan will assume the on-screen role made famous by Kathy Bates in the 1990 film “Misery.” Rocking the same shoulder-length bob and walking around in orthopedic shoes that are sinister by association, these new episodes find her in her pre-“Misery” days, after an accident leaves her stranded in the Maine town that gives the series its name.

Just like last season, “Castle Rock” is well steeped in all things King, beyond a novel or two here or there. With character names, places, and outright invocations of other King titles, Hulu’s show isn’t afraid to draw connections between the author’s other works.

Lizzy Caplan is your Number 1 Fan in the Castle Rock Season 2 teaser

In 1990 director Rob Reiner brought one of Stephen King's most chilling tales to life on the big screen with Misery. Starring Kathy Bates and James Caan, Misery told the story of Paul Sheldon, a famous author who after being rescued from a car crash by a fan of his novels, comes to realize that the care he is receiving is only the beginning of a nightmare of captivity and…

American Horror Story: How the Show Has Changed Since Murder House

Jamie Andrew Sep 10, 2019

With season nine on its way, Murder House remains the jewel in American Horror Story's blood-soaked crown. Here's why...

This article comes from Den of Geek UK.

American Horror Story: Murder House marked horror's first foray into serialized television. While shows like The Twilight Zone and Freddy's Nightmares gave their audiences fresh stories each week, and The X-Files and its ilk had followed a case-of-the-week format with little in the way of connective tissue between episodes and seasons, Ahs was the first horror-centric show to take a long-form approach to storytelling.

The format wasn't the only groundbreaking aspect of the show. Series co-creator Ryan Murphy crafted a truly unique signature style, lying somewhere in tone between The Shining and The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with dashes of slasher and lashes of lipstick added to the mix: pulpy event TV with avant garde sensibilities.

Everything about American Horror Story,

5 Movies You Didn't Know Were Based on Stephen King Novels
Like it or not, you can't throw a rock in the cinematic universe without hitting a Stephen King book adaptation. Many of the best horror movies of all time originated in the brain of King, from Stanley Kubrick's mindf*ck The Shining, to Misery, a horror movie so exceptional that it earned Kathy Bates an Oscar. And, of course, the recent adaptations of It, which we're still having nightmares about.

But we can't just stop there. Did you know King has also written quite a few books outside the horror realm, and some have been adapted into wildly and critically-acclaimed films? We're leaving the scary movies behind to give you a different kind of surprise twist.

Emmy eye-popper: Why is ‘American Horror Story: Apocalypse’ in drama categories instead of limited series races?

When the 2019 Emmy nominations were announced in July, FX’s “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” found itself with five nominations including Best Guest Actress in a Drama Series for Jessica Lange. But wait, “Ahs” isn’t considered a drama, so what gives?

As it turns out, Season 8 was forced to compete in the drama categories at the 2019 Emmys because of a wonky rule that stated it had too many continuing storylines and characters to enter as a limited series, which is where it successfully competed the seven prior years. Not only did the switcheroo result in Lange receiving an Emmy bid, but the program earned five total — that’s even more than recent “Ahs” installment “Roanoke,” which scored four.

SEEJessica Lange on her return to raising monsters in ‘Ahs’: ‘It was fun!’ [Exclusive Video Interview]

The apocalyptic eighth season nabbed these four behind-the-lens bids: Best Fantasty/Sci-Fi Costumes, Best Single-Camera Hairstyling, Best Non-Prosthetic Makeup and Best Makeup.

Xavier Dolan’s Original ‘Death and Life of John F. Donovan’ Cut Was Four Hours Long

Xavier Dolan’s Original ‘Death and Life of John F. Donovan’ Cut Was Four Hours Long
Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan’s epic drama “The Death and Life of John F. Donovan” has been sitting on the shelf, at least stateside, since its world premiere at the 2018 Toronto Film Festival. Boasting Dolan’s most ambitious cast to date — including Kit Harrington, Jacob Tremblay, Natalie Portman, Kathy Bates, Thandie Newton, and Susan Sarandon — “Donovan” was met with jeers at the festival, including by IndieWire’s critic Eric Kohn. In a new interview with the Globe and Mail, Dolan now says that the film originally ran a lengthy four hours long. As it stands, the film currently runs a cool two hours.

“I shot the film that I wrote, but the film that I wrote was a 160-page script that made no choices,” Dolan said. “You now want to focus on something [the editing] that I’ve been focusing on for two years and I don’t know how inspired I

What Makes a Successful Stephen King Movie Adaptation?

Becky Lea Aug 12, 2019

Stephen King has inspired some great (and not great) movie adaptations. We look at what works on screen.

This article comes from Den of Geek UK.

Stephen King is one of our most prolific authors dabbling predominantly in both horror and crime genres with near-equal success. With any successful novelist comes the inevitable film adaptations of their work. From debut wonders to slowburn success stories, Hollywood will sniff out the ones they think will make it on the silver screen. King is no exception.

There are the classic adaptations such as Carrie and The Shining or the infamous adaptations of Maximum Overdrive and The Lawnmower Man. There is a frankly ludicrous number of Children of the Corn films.

Over the course of my odyssey through the adaptations of his work, I like to think I’ve learned a thing or two about what makes an adaptation of a King novel successful.

Paul Walter Hauser joins Disney’s Cruella

I, Tonya and BlacKkKlansman star Paul Walter Hauser is in negotiations to join Disney’s live-action 101 Dalmatians prequel Cruella, with The Wrap reportedly that he is being eyed for the role of Roger Dearly.

Emma Stone (La La Land) is attached to portray the young, pre-villain Cruella de Vil, while Emma Thompson (Howards End) has been linked to the role of the film’s antagonist, The Baroness.

This would mark another high profile casting for Hauser, who is set to star in the title role in Clint Eastwood’s Richard Jewell alongside Sam Rockwell and Kathy Bates (Misery).

Cruella is being directed by Craig Gillespie from a script by Tony McNamara (The Favourite), and is expected to start shooting this September ahead of a December 23rd 2020 release.

Giveaway – Win Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean on Blu-ray

Robert Altman’s Come Back To The 5 & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, the fantastical character driven comedy starring Sandy Dennis, Cher, Karen Black and Kathy Bates, for the first time ever in the UK in a Dual Format (Blu-ray & DVD) edition as part of Eureka Video’s Masters of Cinema Series on July 22nd 2019, and we have three copies to give away!

Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean is one of the wonderful highlights of an under-appreciated chapter of director Robert Altman’s career. Between the box office disappointment of Popeye (1980) and the explosive comeback of The Player (1992), Altman returned to lower-budgeted, independent filmmaking, often boldly experimenting with how theatre work could be inventively adapted for cinema and television. This period of Altman’s oeuvre also includes such masterworks as Streamers (1983), Secret Honor (1984), and Tanner ’88 (1988), but was initiated by Come Back, and this funny, touching
