Michael K. Williams has to buck an unfortunate trend to win his Emmy for ‘When They See Us’

Michael K. Williams has to buck an unfortunate trend to win his Emmy for ‘When They See Us’
Michael K. Williams received one of the eight acting Emmy nominations for “When They See Us,” in Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actor. It’s the actor’s third nomination in the category, making him one of six men to have nabbed at least three bids. But if Williams wants to win, he’ll have to pull off a rare feat because not many of them have converted their nominations into victories.

Williams joins Beau Bridges, John Gielgud, John Malkovich and Joe Mantegna as three-time Best Limited Series/TV Movie Supporting Actor nominees, while Brian Dennehy holds the category record with four bids. Only two of them have won here: Bridges, who is the category’s only two-time champ and Malkovich, who prevailed for “Death of a Salesman” in 1986.

Apocalypse Now: Final Cut Review

Some movies demand to be seen on the big screen. I’m thinking of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Lawrence of Arabia, Andrei Rublev and yes, Apocalypse Now. And in the case of Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 masterpiece, now you can do just that.

Playing in AMC theaters everywhere, the latest cut of the Vietnam War story can now be cherished in IMAX with the latest in Dolby Atmos sound. Just when you thought this nightmare couldn’t seem any more real, Apocalypse Now: Final Cut comes along to blow your mind in a whole new way.

By this point, most of you will know how it opens. Martin Sheen’s Captain Willard is laying in bed; his chest hair as dense as the Vietnam jungle. Staring at the fan spinning above him, we hear the sound of helicopter wings playing over The Rolling Stones’ “This is the End.” Only, it’s the beginning.

The Movies That Made Us Documentary Series Is Coming To Netflix

Chris Longo Aug 13, 2019

We learned more about The Toys That Made Us spinoff The Movies That Made Us, which is coming soon to Netflix.

Coming off the success of Netflix’s original documentary series The Toys That Made Us, series creator Brian Volk-Weiss announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 a spinoff series titled The Movies That Made Us. Each episode will chronicle the production of “generational” films and look at the impact these iconic films had on popular culture. You can watch a teaser trailer here.

Season one features four episodes: Dirty Dancing, Die Hard, Home Alone, and Ghostbusters. When selecting episodes for The Toys That Made Us, Volk-Weiss makes sure a toy is undeniably iconic and has an interesting backstory if it's to be deemed worthy of receiving an episode.

"We have this thing, it's called the Mount Rushmore of Toys," Volk Weiss said of Toys season 3. "Every toy needs

Garfield to Become Part of Nickelodeon

Joseph Baxter Aug 6, 2019

Garfield has become the latest property to join the portfolio of Nickelodeon after an acquisition by Viacom.

Garfield is getting ready to ravenously devour lasagna and malign Mondays as part of Nickelodeon. That’s because Viacom Inc., the channel’s corporate parent, has acquired property owner Paws, Inc., making it officially part of the Nick stable.

The announced acquisition of the Garfield intellectual property and its placement with Nickelodeon is part of its ongoing – and self-confessed – strategy to maintain its status as “the home for the biggest franchises kids and families love.” Indeed, the famous feline will join kid’s show icons like SpongeBob SquarePants (a property set for expansion with a spinoff and another movie), Paw Patrol, upcoming revival Blue’s Clues and You! and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (a property acquired in similar grandiosity back in October 2009). Additionally, it will join an all-new animated Star Trek series.

Ghostbusters 3 Set Photos Reveal The Return Of The Ecto-1

Ghostbusters 3 has begun filming in Canada, and some very juicy reports are now arriving from the set. The pic is being billed as a true continuation of the story of the first two movies, and will feature the surviving original cast returning to the roles they made iconic.

We’ve heard that Bill Murray has been spotted on location already and while I don’t believe there’s yet been any photographs of him in costume as Peter Venkman, we do now have some pictures of one of the true stars of the franchise: Ecto-1, the Ghostbusters’ eye-catching vehicle, bristling with paranormal detection equipment and popping up in one form or another in every iteration of the series.

If you’ll recall, the car was the centre of the first teaser for the movie, which showed it rusting under a tarpaulin in a barn. Well, it’s officially out of

10 Ways That Ghostbusters (2016) Was Better Than The Original Movies

In 1984, Ghostbusters hit theatres and captivated a generation with its signature charm and humor that would be considered iconic in the years to come. Starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson as the main cast's fantastic four, the film is regarded as a timeless classic today.

1989 would bring the release of the slightly-inferior Ghostbusters 2, which featured more misadventures from our favorite unlikely heroes. Both Ghostbusters films are undoubtedly classics, but one thing that ages them terribly is Annie Potts's role.

Related: 4 Reasons To Be Excited About Ghostbusters 3 (6 Reasons Why We're Scared)

Potts portrays Janine Melnitz, who serves at the gang's secretary. She definitely put on an unforgettable performance, but the position of the character contributed to tired and toxic stereotypes nonetheless. This is where the magic of the highly underrated 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters comes in.

This era is chock-full of very unnecessary remakes and reboots, but Ghostbusters (2016) stands apart.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Resmastered Coming This Fall

Film and video games aren’t exactly known to mesh well. Generally speaking, in fact, such crossovers are often considered cash grabs, cobbled together with insultingly small budgets and frequently considered some of the worst games ever made. Both Gearbox Software’s Aliens: Colonial Marines and Transformers: The Game are proof enough of that. But you know what they say – rules are made to be broken.

Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered is one such exception and is scheduled to arrive in just a few months. Originally released in 2009 for the last generation of consoles, Terminal Reality’s action-adventure based on the iconic film series was lauded for its dedication to authentically replicating the movies, even going so far as to feature each main character from the films. Not content with securing the likenesses of Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson, each actor even contributed vocals to their respective characters,

Stars: Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Tilda Swinton, Chloë Sevigny, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Selena Gomez, Austin Butler, Luka Sabbat, Rosie Perez, Eszter Balint, Iggy Pop, Sara Driver, RZA, Carol Kane, Larry Fessenden, Tom Waits | Written and Directed by Jim Jarmusch

The Dead Don’t Die is the latest feature from director Jim Jarmusch and stars a gigantic cast list of Adam Driver, Bill Murray, Selena Gomez, Tilda Swinton and RZA, to name just a few. The film follows three police officers of Chief Cliff Robertson (Murray), Officer Ronnie Peterson (Driver) and Officer Mindy Morrison (Chloë Sevigny) in the peaceful middle American town of Centerville, of which finds itself and the characters battling an onslaught of a Zombie invasion.

Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die, on a very surface level approach, is equivalent to that of Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead. A sweeping comedic venture into the genre of horror.
