1. The Dark Knight (2008)

PG-13 | 152 min | Action, Crime, Drama

84 Metascore

When the menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman must accept one of the greatest psychological and physical tests of his ability to fight injustice.

Director: Christopher Nolan | Stars: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine

Votes: 2,119,476 | Gross: $534.86M

To describe this as a superhero movie is technically accurate but it is also a great crime thriller and an interesting character study. Fantastic movie and possibly my all time favorite

2. The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Votes: 1,415,363 | Gross: $448.14M

While not as good as the Dark Knight, the Dark Knight Rises is still a great movie. I personally really enjoy bane as a villain and there are some great moments in the film.

Director: Christopher Nolan | Stars: Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Liam Neeson

Votes: 1,219,605 | Gross: $206.85M

Another Nolan movie. While the action isn't great in this one, the characters are once again fantastic and the story is interesting. It isn't a masterpiece like the dark knight and it lacks the scale of the dark knight rises but its still a great movie

PG-13 | 136 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

70 Metascore

Director: Jon Watts | Stars: Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei

Votes: 456,769 | Gross: $334.20M

The marvel movie with the lowest stakes. Its smaller scale is a welcome change of pace and works perfect for Spiderman. Tom Holland nails the role and the humor in the movie works pretty well.

8. Spider-Man (2002)

PG-13 | 121 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

Votes: 651,416 | Gross: $403.71M

This is an awesome movie. Campy but lovably so. Almost an ode to comic books.

9. Logan (2017)

Great movie but kind of a rip off of children of men

Director: Todd Phillips | Stars: Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy

Votes: 349,858 | Gross: $192.73M

What frustrates me about this movie is that there was probably a great movie in here. Joaquin Phoenix nails his performance and some of the scenes are truly disturbing. But it almost felt like the movie didn't really know what message it was trying to deliver and it really became very muddled. Overall the movie had its moments but I feel like it wasted a lot of potential.

11. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

PG-13 | 149 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

68 Metascore

The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

Votes: 717,701 | Gross: $678.82M

Thanos: the movie. Finally a villain with some sort of a code and convictions. Until they throw it away in the next one and he just becomes the stereotypical blow up the universe just because bad guy.

Director: Jon Watts | Stars: Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei

Votes: 215,835 | Gross: $388.53M

A very formulaic marvel movie. I think a lot the humor falls flat. some of the characters don't work for me at all like for example MJ and peter's friends seem almost thrown into the movie. There are some real cliche moments as well but Tom Holland nails Spiderman and gyllenhall kills it. decent message about fake news. fine movie I guess

27. Thor (2011)

Votes: 699,573 | Gross: $181.03M

A very by the book marvel movie that hits all the cliches. Not bad or good but certainly not memorable.

28. Captain Marvel (2019)

64 Metascore

Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Directors: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck | Stars: Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law

Votes: 367,151 | Gross: $426.83M

What does captain marvel in for me is the character of captain marvel. What I mean is, what character? It seems like Brie Larson just sort of plays Brie Larson and you never really get a sense of who she is. Its story arc follows many other marvel movies but without the lovable character it just feels bland

29. Deadpool 2 (2018)

R | 119 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

Votes: 420,119 | Gross: $324.59M

The humor in this Deadpool movie works slightly better than the last one but it still feels kinda corny and juvenile

Director: Patty Jenkins | Stars: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis

Votes: 503,931 | Gross: $412.56M

This movie's last act goes against the entire message of the rest of the movie for the sake of an ugly mess of a cgi battle. The action is not very good in general.

35. Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

PG-13 | 141 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

66 Metascore

Director: Joss Whedon | Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth

Votes: 685,756 | Gross: $459.01M

Director: Peyton Reed | Stars: Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly

Votes: 520,239 | Gross: $180.20M

The antman movies follow the marvel formula to the letter and have almost nothing else to offer. They are extremely bland but this one is slightly less so.

39. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)

PG-13 | 118 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

Directors: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo | Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth

Votes: 583,912 | Gross: $858.37M

This movie felt more like a 3 hour video of Marvel just pointing at their past movies and saying "look, wasn't this good?" than an actual story. Boring, unnecessarily long and the plot (which is mostly just an excuse to go back to old movies and ruins the pacing) made past movies feel pointless. Usually in Marvel movies (although they are formulaic) I feel that their was an interest in the characters and making a movie that is good on its own but this movie felt very much like a large studio taking advantage of the fact that they knew everyone would see it and love it no matter what they did.

41. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

PG-13 | 104 min | Action, Sci-Fi

I don't remember really anything about this movie except that I didn't like it which is in a way a sign of how awful it was.

42. Thor: The Dark World (2013)

PG-13 | 112 min | Action, Adventure, Fantasy

54 Metascore

When the Dark Elves attempt to plunge the universe into darkness, Thor must embark on a perilous and personal journey that will reunite him with doctor Jane Foster.

Director: Alan Taylor | Stars: Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård

Probably the worst marvel cinematic universe movie.

43. X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

PG-13 | 144 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

Director: Josh Trank | Stars: Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell

Votes: 142,441 | Gross: $56.12M

This is barely a movie. Sony had to do something with the property or they would lose their movie rights so they threw together this hunk of absolute garbage. And its not even the worst movie on this list

47. Suicide Squad (2016)
