VOTE For 2016 - Coming Of Age / Young Love / Youth / Evil Children/Childhood Christmas - Films Eligible For Your Nomination For Historical Preservation By The U.S. National Film Registry (Library Of Congress) list by Juicy Kumquat

by Juicy_Kumquat | created - 10 Feb 2015 | updated - 19 Jul 2016 | Public

All movies listed here are eligible for nomination, by you, according to the rules set by the U.S. National Film Registry. Most movies listed here are strictly made in the USA, however, some are co-produced with other countries (as identified by IMDb). In accordance with the 10 year waiting period, all movies listed here are 2006 or before for the 2016 year. This list includes full length films (theatrical and made for t.v.), short films, and documentaries. For your convenience, all movies listed are in alphabetical order by year. Instructions on the rules, and where to send your nominations are below. ______________________________________________

Nominate

The Library of Congress invites you to submit your recommendations for movies to be included on the 2016 National Film Registry. Public nominations play a key role when the Librarian and Film Board are considering their final selections. To be eligible for the Registry, a film must be at least 10 years old and be "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

The National Film Registry historically has included only those films that were produced or co-produced by an American film company, typically for theatrical release or recognized as a film through film festivals or film awards. If in doubt, check the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) for country of origin. Registry criteria does not specifically prohibit television programs, commercials, music videos or foreign productions, however, the original intent of the legislation that established the Registry was to safeguard U.S. films. Consequently the National Film Preservation Board and the Librarian of Congress give first consideration to American motion pictures.

You may recommend up to 50 titles per year through the online nomination form.

For consideration, please go to:

https://www.loc.gov/programs/national-film-preservation-board/film-registry/nominate/ and click on the online nomination form. You will be asked to fill in each title and year.

---------------------

Each year, we begin the National Film Registry process anew and start from scratch. So if you voted for a film one year but it was not selected, that vote does not carry over to the next year. To give you a few ideas, below are some fairly well-known films not yet selected to the Registry. You may vote for any of these films or for others not mentioned on the list below. But please do vote: films that receive the most support each year are given special consideration during the process by members of the National Film Preservation Board.
