1. Hocus Pocus (1993)

PG | 96 min | Comedy, Family, Fantasy

A curious youngster moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century.

Director: Kenny Ortega | Stars: Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy, Omri Katz

Votes: 82,725 | Gross: $39.51M

PG. An absolute classic and go-to for anyone (especially if you were a kid in the early 90s). Can be a wee bit scary to very young children. Who wouldn't want to see a movie that makes it believable for Bette Midler to be related to Sarah Jessica Parker. Side note: If you want your mind blown just remember that Thackery Binks grew up to be Tim McGee on NCIS and Dani grew into an American Beauty.

2. Double, Double Toil and Trouble (1993 TV Movie)

TV-Y7 | 96 min | Adventure, Comedy, Family

On Halloween night, two precocious little girls try to save their parents from the greedy clutches of their nasty old Capitalist aunt. Magic abounds and they meet new albeit strange friends along the way.

Director: Stuart Margolin | Stars: Mary-Kate Olsen, Ashley Olsen, Cloris Leachman, Phil Fondacaro

Votes: 2,935

G? I will take all the eye-rolling you can dish out over this one. As someone who owned a few too many Olsen Twins VHS's I think this one is still a classic, especially to watch with kids.

3. The Addams Family (1991)

PG-13 | 99 min | Comedy, Fantasy

57 Metascore

Con artists plan to fleece an eccentric family using an accomplice who claims to be their long-lost uncle.

Director: Barry Sonnenfeld | Stars: Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd, Dan Hedaya

Votes: 117,862 | Gross: $113.50M

PG13. Though I didn't specifically include Addams Family Values, that is also a great pick. This movie is hilarious, morbid and just what the witch doctor ordered for Halloween viewers to enjoy. Still my favorite Anjelica Huston role and an adorable Christina Ricci (who you will see again on this list).

4. Halloweentown (1998 TV Movie)

TV-G | 84 min | Adventure, Comedy, Family

After learning she is a witch, a girl helps save a town full of other supernatural creatures.

Director: Duwayne Dunham | Stars: Debbie Reynolds, Kimberly J. Brown, Judith Hoag, Joey Zimmerman

Votes: 11,011

G. I can't speak much to the sequels (I barely remember the first sequel and didn't bother to see the others). However, the original is awesome and should be viewed by anyone who loves Halloween!

5. Casper (1995)

PG | 100 min | Comedy, Family, Fantasy

49 Metascore

An afterlife therapist and his daughter meet a friendly young ghost when they move into a crumbling mansion in order to rid the premises of wicked spirits.

Director: Brad Silberling | Stars: Bill Pullman, Christina Ricci, Cathy Moriarty, Eric Idle

Votes: 109,923 | Gross: $100.33M

PG. If you were a pre-teen in the 90s, chances are that you will swoon at the reminder of Casper dancing with Kat. If you're human, then chances are your heart broke a little when.... Well I won't give it away. No matter how old you are this is a great movie and you should definitely watch it! Even if just to see a vintage Cristina Ricci!

6. Casper: A Spirited Beginning (1997 Video)

PG | 90 min | Animation, Comedy, Family

Casper accidentally finds himself in the world of the living after failing to show up for ghost training and befriended a young boy who teaches him the ways of a ghost, while a ruler from the other world attempts to bring him back.

Director: Sean McNamara | Stars: Steve Guttenberg, Lori Loughlin, Rodney Dangerfield, Michael McKean

Votes: 3,314

PG. Don't worry, I didn't include all of the titles for every franchise on this list (and not all of the Caspers) but this one does have its own charm. To start with, it features Steve Guttenburg and Lori Laughlin, making it a 90s classic anyway. Also the plot is cute and interesting and bound to keep you interested (even if you pretend it doesn't).

7. Casper Meets Wendy (1998 Video)

PG | 90 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

Casper, a ghost, teams up with Wendy, a witch, against an evil warlock.

Director: Sean McNamara | Stars: Cathy Moriarty, Shelley Duvall, Teri Garr, George Hamilton

Votes: 6,074

PG. Last Casper, I swear! Look past Hillary Duff, I swear it's worth watching. The cast is actually pretty awesome and includes Cathy Moriarty in her second Casper film. (You probably don't know who that is by name but look her up she has definitely been in something you loved). A very cute story about friendship and standing up for yourself.

8. Labyrinth (1986)

PG | 101 min | Adventure, Family, Fantasy

50 Metascore

Sixteen-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) is given thirteen hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother Toby (Toby Froud) when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King Jareth (David Bowie).

Director: Jim Henson | Stars: David Bowie, Jennifer Connelly, Toby Froud, Shelley Thompson

Votes: 115,662 | Gross: $12.73M

PG. May lose the interest of younger viewers but definitely a memorable one for adults and teens. If you can look past or be amused by the awesome 80s styles then you can be entranced by this classic Bowie film and sucked in to a fantastical world that made pretty good use of the currently available special effect technology. A Classic... With puppets.

9. Monsters, Inc. (2001)

G | 92 min | Animation, Adventure, Comedy

78 Metascore

Directors: Pete Docter, David Silverman, Lee Unkrich | Stars: Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Mary Gibbs, Steve Buscemi

Director: Joe Johnston | Stars: Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde

Votes: 276,625 | Gross: $100.48M
