What is your favorite disaster movie? These are films where some disaster, natural or man-made, happens in the middle of the movie and the main characters spend the rest of the movie trying to survive it.

No monster movies and no Alien invasions.
Starting with The Poseidon Adventure (1972) (1972) and after, the films must have a 5.8 or better ratings and at least 11,115 or better votes, Earthquake (1974). Movies made in 1971 and before must have 6.0 or better rating and at least 1,000 votes or better. Why? Because some of the truly classic and special effects groundbreaking older films have the rating but don't have the votes. "Earthquake"'s Oscar winning sound special effect "Sensurround" which you felt and it shook the theater, was the first to expand the bass into the subwoofer range which is sound range that you more feel than hear, is the same wave rangethat Dolby Atmos uses today.
