Director: Kevin Reynolds | Stars: George Dzundza, Jason Patric, Steven Bauer, Stephen Baldwin

Votes: 8,248 | Gross: $0.16M

Jakoby: 60% "The movie ought to be praised for its use of real tanks, tactics, and attention to some beautiful cinematography and soundtrack. This movie however completely fails on a story standpoint. The idea of PTSD ridden soviet commander who takes his grief out brutally on the Afghans is a brilliant setup as you see him crack under that PTSD. However, the mujaheddin are apparently invincible, and magically take down a tank by the will of god and 3 large rocks. Allegories be damned, anything in the movie with the mujaheddin is a cop-out and lazy excuse to go 'hey Russian bad'. We didn't even finish the movie, we decided to read how it ended. And it just continued to pile on bullshit unjustified to the greatness of the setup in the beginning. It should be noted; that this movie technically got vetoed. However, a veto would be too good for what this movie becomes in the end."
