Bob Fosse got the rights to do so from her estate after her death. Her dramatic stage play is based on two real life murder cases and the lawyer who defended them both which she covered as a reporter. The two dramatic non-musical versions of her play are Chicago (1927) (1927) and Roxie Hart (1942) (1942).
