1000 movies to share

by sheilabeta | created - 24 May 2012 | updated - 2 weeks ago | Public

Hunting movies and books is my daily task. A friend of mine asked me to make a list before he goes to Berkeley so this is what I came up with. I have a special interest in Indi movies but there might be some guilty-pleasure-ones... a few... (I promise). The films from Latin America included here are great unknown jewels that, because they are unknown, they have poor rates. Still, I used the same criteria of well-thought movies. I also stress on history, micro-history, biographies and new experiences and ideas that films bring, in culture, direction, situations and perspectives. Please notice that some international movies are only appreciated when the culture background is known through books, experience or travels. The goal is to have more than 1000 substantial films. I'll try to point the film's country origin, too.

Other films not found here: 1. Tapia:El Primer Puertorriqueño (Roberto Ramos-Perea) 2. The Tiger and the Monk 3. Pablo Casals llega a Puerto Rico (Jack Delano, 1956) 4. La pintura mural de Rafael Ríos Rey (Casa Paoli) 5. La ruta de los murales (Casa Paoli) 6. Jugando pelota dura (Sistema TV) 7. Archivos (Canal 6) 8. Historia de nuestro cine (TVE) 9. Puertorriqueñísimo (Canal 6) 10. Días de cine con Edgardo Huertas (Canal 6) 11. Puerto Rican Voices (Puerto Rican Studies) 12. Soy de una raza pura: Eleuterio Derkes (Ignacio Peña) 13. En la punta de la lengua 14. Stealing History or Byen som kunne ofres (Ola Flyum and David Hebditch, 2006) 15. Los Figueroa 16. Desarme (Hernán Fernández, 2016) 16. Antonio Paoli 17. Melaverde 18. Dancing in the Light: The Janet Collins Story 19.
