Being overlong isn't the only problem...
28 November 2017 | by See all my reviews

Coco was a great film. I think most of us can agree with that. HOWEVER, those same people complained about this short for being too long, and they aren't wrong. Most shorts before a Pixar film are 5-10 minutes long, but this one felt like a TV special that somehow made its way to theaters.

It's tiresome, yes, but it would've been fine if this short is entertaining and funny. Sadly, it's not. The observational humor is extremely corny, fast-paced, and often annoying. The story just pads along with lots of pointless songs and cloying sappiness. Olaf is even more annoying than ever.

There are some good things about it, though. The animation is as pleasant as the original movie, a few of the songs are good on their own, and I did chuckle at a few jokes. It would've been an alright TV special on a rainy afternoon... but watching the annoying pratfalls before a movie starts makes me impatient.

I couldn't get into it. And this is coming from a guy that liked (l i k e d, not loved) Frozen. Ick. 3.5/10
