American Housewife: Season Two Ratings

ABC introduced four new sitcoms in the regular 2016-17 television season and cancelled two of them. Along with Speechless, the top-10 rated American Housewife TV show was one of the lucky two. Can it keep on keeping on? Will American Housewife be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. A single-camera family comedy, American Housewife stars Katy Mixon, Diedrich Bader, Meg Donnelly, Daniel Dimaggio, Julia Butters, Carly Hughes, and Ali Wong. The ABC sitcom centers on Katie Otto (Mixon). As an average wife and mother, she prefers to stand apart from Westport Ct's "perfect" parents and their entitled children. Katie's logic-driven husband, Greg (Bader), supports her efforts as best he can. Together, they try to make sure that their kids, Taylor (Donnelly), Oliver (Dimaggio), and Anna-Kat (Butters) internalize the family's values, so they don't end up carbon copies of their neighbors.

Newswire: Ali Wong and Randall Park to play mismatched lovers in Netflix comedy

As reported by Deadline, Ali Wong and Randall Park have signed on to star in an untitled comedy film for Netflix about a pair of childhood friends who reconnect as adults and fall in love despite “vastly different socioeconomic situations.” Wong and Park wrote the movie along with Michael Golamco, and Netflix is reportedly “moving quickly” to find a director. That’s about all we know at this early stage, but at the very least this news is an indication that Netflix is willing to make it’s relatively sparse collection of original comedy movies a bit less dependent on Adam Sandler and his friends—even if those movies are reportedly very popular.

This movie will also be a sort of ABC sitcom team-up, as Wong currently appears in the network’s American Housewife and Park is the star of Fresh Off The Boat.

Emmy Fyc Campaigns 2017: The Political, The Unconventional and The One We’ll Remember Most
This year, there are over 20,000 people who get to select the nominees and winners of the Emmys, and hundreds of shows are vying for their attention. In 2016, we were struck by some of the creativity that studios and networks used in pushing out the word about various shows.

Things seemed more subdued on a street level in 2017, though Emmy campaign expert Rich Licata told IndieWire that the networks did seem plenty active when it came to advertising buys.

“A lot of it unfortunately has turned into white noise,” Licata said, “because there were so many programs and so many networks that I don’t know how a responsible voter can really focus and say, ‘Ok, I’m going to watch all this.'”

Up against nearly impossible odds, there were some shows that were able to stand out, thanks to either completely rejecting the system, redefining

“Flip the Script” Web Series Turns the Table on Workplace Sexism

Flip the Script

Would you say that to a guy? Would you do that in front of a guy? That’s the basic sexism litmus test, and it was definitely a major influence on the Women in Film (Wif) web series “Flip the Script.”

Written and created by Ally Iseman (“American Housewife”), “Flip the Script” is a series of shorts that gender reverses the bullshit women have to put up with in the workplace. One episode follows a sensible, even-tempered director (Rob Huebel) who has been labelled a diva. Meanwhile, his female colleague (Lake Bell) yells at everyone and storms off the set for no reason and is considered a genius. Another short sees a bunch of female film execs passing on a film pitch because the male lead is past his “shelf life” — i.e. he’s old and no one wants to have sex with him anymore. The blowhard studio head (Amy Landecker) also smacks the younger, male producer (Ian Harding) on the ass and ignores him when he flinches.

Each of the four episodes is inspired by a true story and depicts an actual interaction that’s happened between a woman and man and simply switches the gender roles.

“Our aim is to empower and educate, not point a finger. Many people do not even realize they are a part of the issue,” Iseman said in a statement. “We want to encourage them to emulate and celebrate advocates who are taking public action towards change. The goal of this series is to make itself irrelevant. Progress only occurs when the needle is pushed from sympathy to empathy.”

Flip the Script” premiered at Wif Los Angeles’ Crystal + Lucy Awards earlier this month. The series is produced by Meredith Riley Stewart (“Scandal”) and exec produced by Tessa Bell (“Life Inside Out”).

Women in Film Opens Gender Parity Discussion With New Digital Series
Women in Film is launching a new digital series and social media campaign aiming to open fresh dialogue about gender parity in Hollywood.

“Flip the Scipt,” the comedic short-form series that premiered at Wif’s Crystal + Lucy Awards in Beverly Hills Tuesday night, casts a perspective on real-life sexist experiences of industry women by swapping gender roles.

Jeff Garlin, Lake Bell, Amy Landecker, Ian Harding, and Jerrika Hinton are among the actors who contributed to the series, which was directed by Jamie Babbit (“Girls”) and produced and directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller (“Modern Family”).

The four-part installation consists of “Diva Director,” which began airing June 14, “Mad Women” on June 16, “Shelf Life” on June 21, and “Market Value” on June 28.
