The story is basically the typical trope of white guy travels to Asia, Africa, etc and is magically the chosen 1. The comic steals a lot of elements of Chinese Kung-Fu films based on the iron fist. The writer basically pulled a Columbus after watching a few Chinese films then proceeds to whitewash and embellish a few details from the culture he stole from for his "creation" of which is basically a watered down whitewashed diluted version from which it stole from. Knowing that, you can see why the show did not turn out well due to their lack of insight of martial arts...
The dialogue and actors are very cheesy and cringes...the story is atrocious...and the worst is the martial arts for the show!
A show about martial arts and Chinese culture, has a white guy who can't do any Kung-Fu at all!
It is bad enough all the cultural theft, but you couldn't even hire people who cared enough about Chinese culture and martial arts to make it work!!!
The lead actor Finn is wack AF!!!
He fights like a soccer mom at Tae Bo and some hipster whitewashed version of Yoga...
He's not the only one either
Only saving grace is Rosario Dawson as Claire and Gao!!
Honestly Hollywood, get over your "whites only" nonsense and start hiring quality over race...
This is basically David Carradine Kung Fu for millennials
