Ewan McGregor Officially Files For Divorce From His Wife of 22 Years
Ewan McGregor has filed for divorce from his wife, production designer Eve Mavrakis, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. The former couple reportedly called it quits in May 2017 after 22 years of marriage. A source close to the family confirmed the news to People in October. The 46-year-old actor is currently dating his Fargo costar Mary Elizabeth Winstead who split from her husband, Riley Stearns, in May as well. According to TMZ, Ewan is asking for joint custody of their four daughters, Clara, Jamyan, Esther, and Anouk, but Eve has filed a response asking for sole custody of the girls with visitation. Ewan and Eve met on the set of the TV show Kavanagh QC and wed in France in 1995. Most recently, Ewan thanked both Eve and Mary in his acceptance speech at the 2018 Golden Globes.

2018 PGA Awards: All the nominees in the 3 film and 9 TV categories for Producers Guild of America prizes

The Producers Guild of America hands out its awards on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. That is the night before the Screen Actors Guild does the same. Unlike, the latter, which will air on TNT and TBS, the PGA ceremony is not televised. However, it is an equally important stop on the road to the Oscars.

The PGA Awards has an enviable track record at presaging the eventual Best Picture winner at the Academy Awards. The guild and the academy have agreed on 19 of the most recent 28 Best Picture champs. Last year, all nine Oscar nominees for Best Picture numbered among the 10 PGA contenders; only “Deadpool” was snubbed by the academy. The PGA prize went to “La La Land” while the Oscar was (eventually) won by “Moonlight.”

2018 Producers Guild Awards: Complete odds in 8 film & TV categories include ‘Three Billboards,’ ‘Handmaid’s Tale’ …

The Producers Guild Awards have been one of the most closely watched races in the run-up to Oscars because they have presaged the academy’s choice for Best Picture eight times in the last 10 years. However, the two times they disagreed were the last two years in a row, despite the fact that the PGA uses the same preferential ballot that decides the Oscars. Are they still a reliable bellwether? Scroll down for our complete predictions in eight categories for film as well as TV. The nominees are ranked in order of their racetrack odds, with the projected winners highlighted in gold.

There are 11 nominees for Best Picture at this event, and chances are good most of the eventual Oscar nominees for Best Picture — if not all of them — are on the PGA’s list. We’re currently predicting a victory for “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,” but this is

Sundance: Brett Haley on ‘Hearts Beat Loud’ and Making Indie Films for Middle America

Sundance: Brett Haley on ‘Hearts Beat Loud’ and Making Indie Films for Middle America
Brett Haley has become as much a Sundance institution as the trams that circle around Park City, Utah.

The indie filmmaker has premiered three films at the festival in four years, scoring with the likes of “I’ll See You in My Dreams” and “The Hero.” His latest effort, “Hearts Beat Loud,” will close out this year’s gathering. It’s the story of a Brooklyn record store owner (Nick Offerman) who tries to convince his college-bound daughter (Kiersey Clemons) to start a band. At a time when many Sundance offerings are bleak or medicinal, “Hearts Beat Loud” is unabashedly uplifting and, shudder, entertaining. That also bodes well for its commercial prospects — something that should help the film attract a buyer as it searches for distribution.

On the eve of another Sundance, Haley spoke with Variety about his work ethic, his box office track record, and what inspired “Hearts Beat Loud.”

You are wildly prolific.

‘Counterpart’ Review: Two J.K. Simmons Are Better Than One in Whip-Smart Starz Thriller

The Twins TV Trend of 2017 has crossed over to the new year, and it’s chosen a worthy vessel for the voyage. After getting double doses of Justin Theroux (“The Leftovers”), Ewan McGregor (“Fargo”), James Franco (“The Deuce”), and Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks”) last year, J.K. Simmons is keeping the streak alive in the new Starz science-fiction thriller, “Counterpart.” Though one might think creators are running out of viable conceits to get a two-for-one special on their leading actor, Justin Marks makes sure this acting bargain pays off far beyond Simmons’ superb performances; Overall, “Counterpart” is very, very good.

Meet Howard Silk. Howard (Simmons) is a devotee: He’s been working for the same company in the same job in the same clothes, location, and conditions for 30 years. He’s been married to the same woman, Emily (Olivia Williams), for most of that time, faithfully at her side through thick and thin.

Is Bill Condon’s Bride of Frankenstein being resurrected with Gal Gadot?

Last years microcosmic lifespan of Universal’s Dark Universe, halted by the failure of The Mummy, put paid to a series of run-before-you-could-walk spin-off movies; The Invisible Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Wolf Man.

Appropriately enough, the only film that appears to have been brought back to life is Bill Condon’s Bride of Frankenstein, which was about to get underway with its London shoot when the bandages began to unravel on Tom Cruise’s summer flop.

It’s now being reported that a production team is being put in place featuring cinematographer Tobias A. Schliessler (A Wrinkle In Time), production designer Sarah Greenwood (Darkest Hour), composer Carter Burwell (Fargo), and costume designer Jacqueline Durran (Beauty and The Beast).

However, such forward momentum would rule out original Bride, Angelina Jolie, who is set to reprise her role in Maleficent 2, with cameras set-to-roll in April on the Disney sequel.

Is Bride Of Frankenstein Back On The Slab?

Thanks to The Avengers and the success that has followed it, the film industry as a whole is seemingly experiencing what we’ll term “Shared Universe Fever,” a condition that is rivaling the Disco Fever that plagued a nation in the 1970’s, and the Hulkamania that followed in the ’80s.

Truth be told, it actually kind of makes sense in Universal’s case, especially when the studio has a license to some of the most iconic monsters around. Really, they’ve been at this for so long that the lore they’ve established for werewolves, vampires and the like has actually overtaken folklore of centuries past, and is somehow now regarded as being canonical among the public at large.

Unfortunately, though, the studio really put the cart before the horse with this whole Dark Universe concept, hoping that their recent reboot of The Mummy would find the same success that

It Looks Like Universal's Bride Of Frankenstein is Going Back Into Development

After Tom Cruise's The Mummy bombed, Universal Pictures had to rethink their whole "Dark Universe" plan. The next film that was supposed to be developed in this Universal Monster cinematic universe was Bride of Frankenstein, but the last we heard, the studio shut down the production and removed it from their release schedule.

The reason for the project being shut down was so that director Bill Condon (Beauty and the Beast) and the creative team could rework the script and get the project in a place that everyone is happy with. At the time, Universal said:

"After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone Bride of Frankenstein. None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again,

Pete’s 2017 Media Diary

This is the fourth year publishing the list of television, movies, and books that I read throughout the year. It’s always interesting to look back on the content you have consumed with your viewing and reading habits laid out in front of you. It can be pretty scary for those not ready to truly look inside their own mind. For me, my biggest takeaway is always… “I need to read more books”. Looking through my 2017 media diary it’s hard to deny the fact I read zero books. I did however watch plenty of great television, and a few great movies. (Here’s to changing that in 2018).

2017 was the year in which my excitement for new television far exceeded my excitement for new movies. I continued my trend from 2016 where I felt I watched more television than movies. Television had a far larger impact on me, and sure there
