At John Hughes High School, the students are the same as just about every other teenager in a teen movie. The popular jock, Jake, takes a bet from Austin, the cocky blonde guy, that he can transform Janey, the pretty ugly girl, into the prom queen before the prom. But two people are trying to stop Jake from succeeding: his evil sister, Catherine, the cruelest girl in school, and Priscilla, the bitchy cheerleader. And all of their friends are the same as any other teen movie: Areola, the naked foreign exchange student, Les, the beautiful weirdo, Malik, the token black guy, the desperate virgins, Amanda Becker, the perfect girl, Ricky, Janey's obsessed best friend, and Sadie, the VERY old undercover reporter. Written by
Cerina Vincent, who plays Areola the naked foreign exchange student, is known for playing Maya the Yellow Ranger on Power Rangers Lost Galaxy (1999). This makes her one of the few Power Ranger actors to appear nude onscreen. Ironically, Chyler Leigh's brother, Christopher Khayman Lee, was the Red Ranger in Power Rangers in Space (1998). See more »

Two bonus scenes at the end: Mr Briggs, in a parody of a scene from "American Pie", talks about a "three-way" while holding two pies. The albino folk singer sings about being blinded from her corneas burned out by the sun. (This scene comes after all the credits have finished.) See more »
The IMDb ranking for this film is quite harsh in my opinion. OK, this film was never going to win an Oscar, but it's enjoyable throughout and has some very good laughs in it. I'm not a big fan of teen movies but I saw this and was impressed. It's light-hearted and not afraid to appear ridiculous (infact most of the time it does this deliberately) and it doesn't pretend to be "Just another teen movie", indeed it IS "Not another teen movie", it's a very enjoyable laugh at the expense of those films.
Don't expect your life to be changed by this film, but if you want simply a fun film to watch then you won't go far wrong seeing this one.
