Originally, I was attracted to this film because I have always been impressed with the acting performances of Christina Plate, even though her roles did not always seem to match her talent. In this tale of a lie, she was not disappointing as Christine Wiemann, representing the middle generation of three, but she was, fitting in with the awkward situation depicted, somewhat subdued in comparison with earlier effervescent character portrayals. This allowed Julia Palmer, despite of or perhaps even because of a great performance by Gaby Dohm, to steal the show with a brilliant, faceted performance as the resolute, energetic and frank Jenny Wiemann, representing the younger generation.
The story was promising, but not presented as plausibly as it could have been. Nevertheless, the acting, also from Finja Martens as a friend of Jenny's, and the scenery were sufficiently good to distract the viewer from such minor failings. Although credibility was somewhat lacking, suspense and feeling were kept up throughout this tale of human relationships. However, though I recommend it for entertainment and the study of the interaction between characters of different generations in a similar albeit more serious way to "In Her Shoes", this by no means turned it into a masterpiece.
