In the near future, a teenage couple are trapped in a drive-in theater which has become a concentration camp for social outcasts. The inmates are treated to drugs, exploitation films, junk food, and new wave music.
An alien starship dumps a space-trash in a swamp in a U.S. National Park. Some mosquitoes begin to feed from the alien's corpses, causing them to grow to the size of a vulture. For the scene where the two fishermen are attacked in their boat, special effects man Matt Hundley, was chosen to be the anchor in the water, with weights tied to his feet, to hold the boat steady. Matt informed everyone he couldn't swim, but he was chosen to do it anyway. See more »
When an animal increases in size, its weight increases by the cube of the increase, while surface area only increases by the square. That means the mutant mosquitoes would be trapped on the ground, helpless. Their legs would not support them, and their wings would not let them fly. See more »
A group of people battle against giant mosquitos. The acting could have been much better. The special effects were superb. Sometimes I wondered how they got those giant mosquitos to look so real. This movie is like a mosquito version of Hitchcock's The Birds except the mosquitos fly in a smaller group.
