Trivia

Because of a phenomenal success of the book, 20th Century Fox was sure that this was going to be a huge hit at the box office. At the same time there were such low expectations surrounding Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) that most theaters refused to book the film. So the distributor at Fox came up with the idea of a package deal: telling theater chains that if they wanted this movie they had to book Star Wars first. This movie went on to become a box office dud while Star Wars went on to become one of the most successful films of all time. See more »

Quotes

Larry Douglas: [dancing together] Are my medals cutting into your boobs?
Catherine Alexander Douglas: Shakespeare or Marlowe?
Larry Douglas: Cathy, you have to know how I feel about you, especially when we dance so goddamn close.
Catherine Alexander Douglas: Actually, maybe we should just sit down.
Larry Douglas: [sitting down] I don't know why you're so annoyed. That's one of the nicest compliments a man could pay a woman.
Catherine Alexander Douglas: Strange, but I feel you're the only man that can come up with it any time day or night.
Larry Douglas: Only with you.
Catherine Alexander Douglas: Oh yeah. What are you packin' there, a Louisville Slugger?

I expected just another love story "chick" movie and was pleasantly surprised that it delivered the thrills.
18 August 2004 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I saw this movie upon the persistent recommendations of my lady co-employees thinking and hoping that there may be sense after all in their insistence. But of course, knowing them I expected this to be another chick movie, a maudlin love story.

To my surprise, it had a lot of suspense and I also appreciated the fact that it captured the ambience of the European countries that served as locales.

It did well in the Philippines. I saw it with a standing room crowd and it took me a while to grab a seat. But I doubt if it was well received in the US.
