- Errori geografici: Throughout the film, Charlotte and Miriam keep on referring to the "county commissioner". Louisiana is one of two states in the U.S. that's not divided into counties, the other being Alaska.
- Anacronismi: In the ballroom dance scene near the beginning of the film, the women's hairstyles are 1964 vintage, rather than in 1927 style as the scene calls for.
- Continuity: When Charlotte is telling Miriam off at the dining table ("Sounds pretty dirty to me!") she lifts her wine glass to her mouth; a split second later she is lifting it mid-air.
- Continuity: While waiting outside the Hollis home, Willis licks and seals the letter for Charlotte. When she opens it, however, it is unsealed.
- Continuity: When Charlotte and Meriam are dumping the body of Dr. Drew, Charlotte's hair is braided/unbraided between shots.
- Revealing mistakes: Disturbed by a noise in the middle of the night, Miriam gets out of bed and puts a revolver in the pocket of her negligee. Shortly after, a wind storm whirls the gown around her head, something that could never occur if there was actually something as heavy as a gun in her pocket.
- Continuity: Near the end of the film, when Charlotte leaves Hollis House for the last time, her make-up varies wildly from shot to shot.
- Continuity: As household staffers pack up her belongings, a haggard Charlotte wanders through the house wearing no make-up. But the minute she sees an insurance investigator in the yard, she's suddenly wearing lipstick, eye makeup and looking years younger.
- Continuity: During the scene where Miriam meets Jewel in public, a smiling young girl extra with a bouffant hairdo and a ribbon in her hair can be seen walking behind them. Seconds later the same girl walks behind them again.
