I settled down to watch this thinking it was a bit of a girlie film so could not believe how much I enjoyed it. It is fantastic to see real quality in a film for once (no guns, explosions, violence etc). The performances were great - I had watched the series of American Idol that Jennifer Hudson lost out in and wasn't greatly impressed with her then - but in this film she was awesome. Beyonce was also surprisingly good as well. The real winner though in the film is the quality of the songs - brilliantly written and brilliantly performed.
My wife and children are massive fans of Grease but this film is on a different level to that. If you want a couple of hours of great entertainment, fantastic singing and super music I cannot recommend higher than this - 5 stars do not do it justice. We also watched on HD DVD which made it all the better.
