‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series

‘Fire and Fury’ to Be Adapted Into TV Series
Michael Wolff’s “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” is being eyed for an adaptation into a television series, Variety has confirmed.

Endeavor Content has purchased the film and television rights to the book, which goes inside the first year of Donald Trump’s presidency. It largely portrays Trump as unprepared for the enormity of his office, and that he is unable to focus his attention on policy details. The book also includes quotes from former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, who referred to the 2016 meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a Russian lawyer as “treasonous.” Bannon eventually resigned his position at Breitbart News over the furor caused by his statements.

The book proved to be an immediate best-seller and was sold out at bookstores in several major cities the day it was released.

No studio is currently attached to the project. Wolff will serve as an executive producer on the project with former

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW

TV Ratings: 'Black Lightning' Gets a Promising Premiere on CW
Good news for the CW. It seems the network still hasn't exhausted its viewers' appetite for superhero shows.

Black Lightning joined the lineup on Tuesday night, making it the fifth comic book series on the network — seventh, if you're counting genre-divergent entries iZombie and Riverdale. The first hour pulled a strong 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.3 million viewers. Those numbers are quite sound by CW standards, especially when you consider the fact that lead-in The Flash, the CW's No. 1 series, only performed incrementally better. Black Lightning shared The Flash's score in the key demo and lost fewer...

‘Supernatural’ Star Kim Rhodes on Adding Perspective and Saying ‘Yes to Women’
Kim Rhodes is no stranger to popping up to Vancouver, B.C. to do a guest stint on the CW’s long-running demon-hunting drama “Supernatural,” but even though she has been a part of the show since 2010, she says her latest episode, which is a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff entitled “Wayward Sisters,” felt different.

“I make no bones about the fact that every time they contact me to be a part of the show, I’m sure I’m going to be killed off,” Rhodes tells Variety. “But there was a feeling of something new. I could see the crew, as well, be kind of like, ‘Oh we haven’t done this before.’ To watch people who have been on a steady, brilliant, wonderfully moving train change course just a little bit for a couple of weeks was really exciting. It felt like putting on clothes that feel a little better when the other outfit

William Friedkin’s Exorcism Documentary ‘The Devil and Father Amorth’ Acquired by Orchard

The Orchard has acquired worldwide rights to William Friedkin’s exorcism documentary “The Devil and Father Amorth” from Ld Entertainment.

The documentary explores an exorcism performed in 2016 by the Vatican’s Father Gabriele Amorth as he fights to expel Satan from an Italian woman. Produced by Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon, the Orchard plans a theatrical release on April 20, followed by a worldwide digital release.

“In the early 1970s when I directed ‘The Exorcist,’ I had not witnessed an exorcism but I wondered how close I had come to portraying reality,” Friedkin said. “I had been curious to meet Father Amorth for many years and when he granted permission to meet and film him in Rome last May, it was the opportunity to complete the circle and see how close that film came

Revival of CBS-Viacom Merger Talk Sows Tension Within Redstone Empire, Again

Chatter about Shari Redstone revving up an effort to recombine Viacom and CBS Corp. is sowing tension within both companies.

CBS insiders were aghast at a report in the Wall Street Journal Wednesday citing Redstone’s concern about a lack of long-term strategic planning at the Eye and the level of independence among its board members.

Meanwhile, Viacom executives are once again nervous about the potential for consolidation with CBS to bring wholesale changes to the management of the company, particularly the cable networks division. The sentiment among insiders is that things have only just started to settle down after a year of turmoil in 2016, before Bob Bakish was named permanent CEO in December of that year.

“Here we go again,” said an executive at Viacom’s MTV Networks.

Sources at both companies expressed surprise and frustration that the first stirrings of a re-merger effort are emerging through media reports rather than through the board room. A
