The series follows members of the I-49 Squad in New York and Alec Station in Washington, D.C., the counter-terrorism divisions of the FBI and CIA, respectively, as they travel the world fighting for ownership of information while seemingly working toward the same goal – trying to prevent an imminent attack on U.S. soil.

Dunkirk (Christopher Nolan)

In the hours since viewing Dunkirk – the newest film from surprisingly divisive blockbuster director Christopher Nolan – one sensory recollection has stuck out above all others. Netflix's New Series Wormwood Is Based on a Horrifying True Story

  • BuzzSugar
Netflix is releasing a new miniseries on Dec. 15 titled Wormwood, a docudrama about the CIA's LSD experiments in the 1950s. That study, called Project Mk-ULtra, has been well documented; it has been mentioned in movies like Jacob's Ladder and The Men Who Stare at Goats, as well as TV shows like Fringe and Stranger Things. But what about the case that is central to Wormwood, that of Frank Rudolph Olson, played in the miniseries by Peter Sarsgaard? Is that based on a true story? The answer is yes, and the details are actually quite shocking. Wormwood: first trailer for new Netflix thriller

Alec Bojalad Kirsten Howard Dec 10, 2017

Wormwood, a 6-part true crime thriller with some documentary elements, has received an intriguing first look..

In the 'reality is stranger than fiction' files, no story may be more surreal and unbelievable than the CIA's Mk-ultra experiments.

The American government's effort into LSD, mind control and many other nefarious, arguably supernatural endeavors has made a good backdrop for many a science fiction story. Now, with the help of Netflix's massive true crime industrial complex, the real story of Mk-ultra will be in the spotlight.

Wormwood is a six-part true crime series about the death of a CIA employee Dr. Frank Olson. The series will explore the causes of Olson's mysterious death by blending fact and fiction and combining documentary elements with a scripted narrative, starring Peter Sarsgaard.

The first official trailer for the show gives us an idea of just what that will look like.
