Z Nation to Return for a Fifth Season on Syfy

  • DailyDead
With the two-episode season 4 finale of Z Nation airing tonight, fans don't have to wait to see if the living dead series will return, as it's officially been announced that the post-apocalyptic show has been renewed for a fifth season by Syfy.

The news of the Z Nation renewal was officially announced by executive producer David Michael Latt on Twitter and on the show's official Facebook page.

While a specific premiere date has not yet been announced, Z Nation has traditionally premiered in September and aired its finales in December over the past four seasons, so fans can expect a similar schedule for season 5 of the series.

The episode order for season 5 also has yet to be revealed, but with each of the first four seasons in the 13–15 episode range, it wouldn't be surprising to see the fifth season fall in that range of episodes.

Z Nation certainly offers a

The Fog Star Adrienne Barbeau Refused To Be In The Devil’s Rejects

One thing that can always be expected in a Rob Zombie film is that he often uses horror genre icons and veterans. A great example of this is his 2005 effort The Devil’s Rejects. The House of 1000 Corpses sequel features appearances from stars like Ken Foree, Michael Berryman and P.J. Soles among others, but it turns out that one very interesting actress actually refused to be in the film – none other than Adrienne Barbeau.

She’s a fabulous scream queen you may recognize from the works of John Carpenter like Escape From New York and The Fog, while she also played a role in George Romero’s Creepshow. But according to Barbeau, who recently spoke with Tom Holland’s Terror Time, she wasn’t too interested in taking on The Devil’s Rejects.

“I’ve turned down myriad roles. Sometimes after reading 20 pages of the script. And especially if

The Bottom Shelf: Return Of The Living Dead 3, The Evil Within and The Jerk, Too

Nick Aldwinckle Sep 14, 2017

Our round up of horror and genre DVDs and Blu-rays returns, with some solid titles, and The Jerk sequel...

So, whilst Kim Jong-Un and Donald Trump are comparing the size of their nuclear weapons and super-storms are battering the world’s coastlines, the head of Nato is describing the present moment as the “most dangerous in a generation”. With any luck, the inevitable apocalypse may bring with it some fun real-life zombie larks to bring some light to the fast-approaching nuclear winter: what more prescient documentary-drama could there be, therefore, than Re-Animator cult hero Brian Yuzna’s Return Of The Living Dead 3?

Resurrected this month on Blu-ray as part of the gloriously tacky Vestron Video Collection, the second sequel to Dan O'Bannon’s classic eighties comedy horror adopts more of an angsty nineties tone as the monster-making Trioxin chemical returns to cause havoc all over again,

DVD Review – The Evil Within (2017)

The Evil Within, 2017.

Directed by Andrew Getty.

Starring Frederick Koehler, Sean Patrick Flanery, Brianna Brown, Michael Berryman, Kim Darby, and Dina Meyer.

Synopsis:

A mentally handicapped man is driven to murder by his reflection in an antique mirror.

The Evil Within is a movie that arrives on the scene with a reputation and a lot of baggage, thanks mainly to its creative force Andrew Getty beginning production on it in 2002, taking six years to shoot it and a further seven to edit it to his liking before his untimely death in 2015. The film was then completed by producer Michael Luceri and a mere 15 years after initial production began the final result is here, so was it worth the wait?

Well, if truth be told it probably wasn’t worth putting any major plans on hold to be able to watch it but The Evil Within is not without merit. The

"Twin Peaks," Episode 13 Recap: What Is This, Kindergarten?

  • MUBI
Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series.Much of David Lynch's work is about regression, or regressiveness, about people who are most comfortable when indulging (really, hiding behind) their baser instincts. An acid-jazz saxophonist with murder on his mind might take refuge in the body and soul of a teenage delinquent (Lost Highway), or a midwestern girl who has played and lost the Hollywood game might concoct a candy-colored dream-life in which she finally attains Tinseltown stardom (Mulholland Dr.). But these escapes always prove to be traps, and cyclical ones at that. What goes around comes around. What has happened before will happen again. Even Blue Velvet's Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini), finally liberated from her abusive sexual relationship with Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper), "still can see blue velvet through my tears.

‘Apocalyse Kiss’ DVD Review

Stars: D.C. Douglas, Carmela Hayslett, Tom Detrik, Tammy Jean, Tom Atkins, Michael Berryman, Lloyd Kaufman, Steve Blum, Bonnie Loev, Brian Anthony Wilson | Written and Directed by Christian Jude Grillo

I’ll freely admit there was a heavy dose of trepidation going into Apocalypse Kiss. You see I’ve had the “pleasure” of watching one of writer/director Christian Jude Grillo’s films (Deer Crossing aka Wasteland) before and it wasn’t the greatest of experiences… But just like you should never judge a book by its cover I feel you should never judge a filmmaker from just one film, even if that film was a complete shambles. Grillo’s previous effort was a backwoods thriller, a poor mans Texas Chainsaw Massacre if you will but this time out Grillo aims his sights higher, bringing us a dystopian vision of a city in ruin, controlled by corrupt politicians and evil corporations.
