Lucifer Season 3 Episode 10 Review – ‘The Sin Bin’

Tori Brazier reviews the tenth episode of Lucifer season three…

*Spoiler alert* It’s a bit of a tangled web to negotiate this episode as the writers plan to deceive over the true identity of criminal the Sinnerman (Kevin Carroll) right until the final few moments of Lucifer’s mid-season finale.

In lighter relief, Dan (Kevin Alejandro) and new D.A. lawyer Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) grow close again with the help of a mischievous Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) (or “the best wingman ever”, as her father puts it). Forensic scientist Ella (Aimee Garcia) also gets carried away with supporting her boss, Lieutenant Pierce (Tom Welling), when she learns of his brother’s murder at the hands of the Sinnerman through Chloe (Lauren German) – her excitement at aiding a tragic soul is palpable and endearing.

With the Sinnerman in custody and Lucifer (Tom Ellis) itching to cross-examine him, it all seems a

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 9 Review – ‘The Sinnerman’

Tori Brazier reviews the ninth episode of Lucifer season 3…

After a rather drawn-out process, season three’s ninth episode of Lucifer finally wends its way back to pick up the important plot thread of the season: finding (and besting) the Sinnerman (Kevin Carroll). Although frustrating at times, the meandering of Lucifer into some more inconsequential sub-plots this season has served to ratchet up the tension (and expectation) when it comes to this ‘Big Bad’. He has stolen Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) devil face and forcibly re-attached his wings, which demonstrates his knowledge of this fallen angel’s true identity and power – if not a similar celestial/demonic status for himself, too. Now he’s killing people and placing the bodies in positions reminiscent of the favour Lucifer has granted to each in the past (e.g. mob status, entrepreneurial success in hair care etc.), to taunt him.

‘The Sinnerman’ also

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 8 Review – ‘Chloe Does Lucifer’

Tori Brazier reviews the eighth episode of Lucifer season 3…

With the return of Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside), more Linda (Rachael Harris) and even Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) hanging around again, there are a greater number of characters to juggle this week than in an average episode of Lucifer. ‘Chloe Does Lucifer’ is a gentle, rather procedural outing – especially in the face of last episode’s brazen (and successful!) break from the formula with a guest character’s arc and viewpoint shaping the episode’s entirety.

This week’s episode is more conventional, being built around a reasonably straightforward (but not uninteresting) homicide case rather than character backstory. The case has its usual link with the culture of Los Angeles, this time being all about the shallowness and vanity of judging exclusively by good looks and a bright, shiny exterior. The crime’s solving also teaches Lucifer (Tom Ellis) the lesson of the

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 7 Review – ‘Off the Record’

Tori Brazier reviews the seventh episode of Lucifer season 3…

Off the Record’ represents the best episode of Lucifer season 3 so far, with a neat and thought-provoking plot told almost-exclusively from the point of view of guest character Reese (Better Call Saul’s Patrick Fabian). He provides a nice link to Lucifer (Tom Ellis) when it is revealed that the wife he’s attempting to win back is none other than Lucifer’s beloved therapist Dr. Linda Martin (Rachael Harris), which also shines a brighter light on Harris’ regularly excellent, low-key work as the sanest-character-in-the-room foil. There’s also a deliciously entertaining irony in Reese assuming Linda is sleeping with Lucifer, rather than her acting as his therapist, and storming into Lux with the intention of confronting him, only for Lucifer to leap in before his confession and offer consolation and motivation in seeking brutal revenge on – unknowingly – himself.

The reveal

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 6 Review – ‘Vegas With Some Radish’

Tori Brazier reviews the sixth episode of Lucifer season 3…

Episode six of this new season of Lucifer, and the showrunners have realised how good Ella (Aimee Garcia) is as light and bright foil to the majority of the Lapd characters, as well as to Lucifer (Tom Ellis) himself – so much so that she gets upgraded this week to his sidekick on a work trip to Vegas. Not only does she then get to demonstrate her already-proven natural knack for forensics, but she also reveals some rather more dubious talents that stem from her mysterious past. Card-counting and voices aside, it’s clear that are still many roads to travel down with this appealing character.

‘Vegas With Some Radish’, like the previous episode, brings back another character from Lucifer’s past and from last season – his ex-wife Candy (Lindsey Gort), who he spontaneously married on the rebound from an ‘almost’ with

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 3 Review – ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith’

Tori Brazier reviews the second episode of Lucifer season 3…

Episode three of Lucifer’s third season heralds a welcome return for demon Mazikeen, Lucifer’s right-hand woman, who essentially went off to “find herself” once she realised Lucifer wasn’t planning on returning to hell anytime soon. As a soulless being who had been sleeping with Lucifer’s brother, the archangel Amenadiel, it’s fair to assume she had a reasonable amount of issues through which to work.

Lesley-Ann Brandt clearly relishes the part of Maze – not only does she get to handle dangerous weapons and wear rather a large amount of black leather, but she also expertly channels capable ‘bad ass’ with her dry and unfrazzled delivery of lines, no matter what the topic. She also enjoys odd-couple friendships with (at this rate, group) therapist Linda (Rachael Harris), who makes great mortal foil to the celestial and demonic beings

Lucifer Season 3 Episode 2 Review – ‘The One with the Baby Carrot’

Tori Brazier reviews the second episode of Lucifer season 3…

This week’s episode of Lucifer starts off with a bang – or at least that was Lucifer’s intention, as he brings a lady upstairs to his apartment – but it turns out he has a little problem with premature… “unfurling”. These sorts of situations allow Lucifer (Tom Ellis) to display his witty, self-deprecating side, which is in nice contrast to his usual raging ego. Another mutilation and another regrowth confirm that Lucifer’s wings are here to stay, however much that notion might inconvenience him.

Brother Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) brings therapist Linda (Rachael Harris) back into his confidence, after regaining her trust by saving her life at the end of season two. These two make a great team, more cerebral – but still entertaining – than others on the show. Linda is always good value as a normal, rational person reacting to the

‘Lucifer: The Complete Second Season’ DVD Review

Stars: Tom Ellis, Lauren German, Tricia Helfer, D.B. Woodside, Rachael Harris, Lesley-Ann Brandt | Created by Tom Kapinos

When you watch Lucifer, one of the most surprising things has to be just how good Tom Ellis is as Lucifer Morningstar. Now that Lucifer: The Complete Second Season is out on DVD, this is a chance to catch up on not only the Devil himself, but his dysfunctional family.

With Lucifer and Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German) back to solving cases, they grow ever closer. To add even further complications though, it appears that Lucifer’s mother has escaped hell and made it into earth in the body of Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) who has plans of her own for the Devil.

While Lucifer has the base of a somewhat typical police procedural show, where it becomes something different is in the characters that inhabit it. Never taking anything too seriously, Lucifer

Lucifer Bosses Talk Up 'Leftover' Standalone Episodes (Maze as 007?!), How They'll Fit Into Season 3
Lucifer fans need not worry about May’s cliffhanger ending not being addressed as soon as Season 3 arrives on Monday, Oct. 2 at 8/7c.

Back in March, it was announced that Season 2 of the Fox drama would run only 18 episodes, and that the final four to be filmed would get added onto this fall’s run. That news A) bummed out fans who already were enduring a prolonged springtime hiatus, and 2) raised some concern about how the episodes, previously reported to be standalone in nature, would fit into Season 3.

For example, some fretted that the aforementioned cliffhanger — in which Lucifer (played

Review: Lucifer: the Complete Second Season

  • Comicmix
Interestingly, Fox licensed DC Comics’ interpretation of Lucifer, made remarkable first in the Sandman series and then in his own six year eponymous ongoing series. The First of the Fallen, he has abandoned his role as ruler of Hell and has come to Earth to run a piano bar, which is where the ongoing series opened. The series explored the themes of free will and individual willpower while challenging the “tyranny of predestination”. Under writer Mike Carey, it was a moody and fascinating study of humanity.

The network series, which debuted as a midseason replacement in spring 2016, ignored all of the trappings and set him up as a police consultant who saw a shrink, and was annoyed by his brother. Somehow, it clicked with audiences and came back for a full eighteen episode run. Now, Warner Home Entertainment has released Lucifer: The Complete Second Season in separate Blu-ray and DVD packages.

In the cast’s defense — and as some readers surmised — much of the trailer was from the four episodes that got lopped off of Season 2 and tacked onto the coming run, so memories were a bit foggy when Michael Ausiello pressed for the what and why of what’s going on in the assorted vignettes.
