IMDb: Contributor zone: Research projectsWhile we always welcome new data, particularly from people who have expertise in specialized topics, there are places where anyone can help out. We generally have pretty good coverage for new releases from major American studios and films screening at major film festivals. However, smaller film festivals are not always covered in full, particularly for short subjects. Many of them have web pages with adequate information about a film. You might take a look at some of the upcoming festivals on our festival page (or the equivalent for those with IMDbPro access). There are also some general kinds of information that we ought to have but don't. One example: Popular English-language titles with no quotes yet This thread has a different set of English titles lacking quotes, with more classic films Another example: Popular titles with no plot summary yet (some may have shorter plot outlines) A newer project: First/last line quotes Our latest project: Most-wanted missing episode-level data You may want to coordinate with other contributors at this topic if you plan to contribute plot summaries. If you're familiar with a country or U.S. state where the location data hasn't been cleaned up yet, you might take a look at the data in the location tree for that area. If you're not familiar with how to go about this, you should probably check in on the Contributors Help message board. In October 2003, we uploaded some lists of missing data. These lists are not updated on a regular basis, so others may have added data in the interim:
We are missing historic reference material for the Venice Film Festival, especially the in-competition films, i.e. the films competing for the Golden Lion. If you know of any source, online or print, providing those, please contact Oliver Heidelbach, our awards section editor, via the IMDb help desk. Over time, we intend to update this page with other specific issues we could use research help with. |
